On January 9, 1963, an angel came to live among us in the form of a precious baby girl, Margo Pauline Bourgeois. At birth, Margo was diagnosed with Down syndrome and a heart murmur. She was flown to Regina for care until she was strong enough to come home to Gravelbourg.

Margo was a joy to all who knew her. She loved her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends, and they loved her just as deeply. Her favourite things were dancing and singing. It was pure joy to watch her celebrate life. She truly lived the motto: “Dance like no one is watching.”

Margo attended school in Assiniboia until a class was offered in Gravelbourg. She continued through elementary and high school until the age of 18, then attended the Swift Current workshop until IPI and the Gravelbourg Group Home opened. Margo was overjoyed to come home and be close to her family and friends.

As she began to need a little extra care, Margo moved into the Foyer d’Youville. She thrived there, always happy to be surrounded by people and sharing her love with those around her. One of the highlights of her days was her cherished visits with her Uncle Claude. Together, they made many miles strolling around, enjoying each other’s company and visiting other residents along the way.

On April 22, 2025, Margo passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Margo is preceded in death by her mother Laurette (née Piché) Bourgeois, father Jeremie Bourgeois, and brother-in-law Norman Pinsonneault. She is survived by her siblings: Robert Bourgeois (Nicole), Roland Bourgeois (Lynn),  Lise Erfle (David), Paula Pinsonneault (Garth), numerous nieces and nephews.

Heaven has received back the angel that was loaned to us on earth for 62 beautiful years.

A Celebration of Margo’s Life will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK.
