Obituary of Pete Stoian

Pete Stoian

Peter John Stoian of Limerick, Saskatchewan, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 53.

Pete was born on June 2, 1971, in Assiniboia, SK the second son of John and Eileen (née Hein) Stoian. He grew up on the farm with his older brother Bill and younger brother Dean. He attended school in Limerick.  After high school Pete worked in the Alberta oilfields before returning to the family farm in 2010 following the passing of his father John. He worked for many years for Cranfield Hopper Bottoms Ltd., later the Town of Assiniboia, and most recently Valor Door Services.

Pete treasured time with family, especially during the holidays. Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter were among his favourites. He loved gathering in the kitchen with his mom and brothers, Bill and Dean, to make cabbage rolls using their parents’ special recipe. Even after their beloved mother, Eileen, passed away in 2016, the tradition lived on, complete with a heartfelt toast to Mom and Dad with a shot of Royal Red wine.

A man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures, Pete had a deep love for animals and found companionship in his two orange tabby cats, affectionately named Pupper and Poopy. He took great pride in restoring his beloved '66 Plymouth and could often be found tinkering with the car while music played in the background. He loved cruising the backroads, enjoying a cold beer and smoking his left-handed cigarette. Saturdays were reserved for laundry, grocery shopping, and the comforting routines he had come to enjoy.

Pete is lovingly remembered by his brother Bill Hein and niece Raegan; his brother Dean Stoian; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is now reunited in heaven with his cherished parents, John and Eileen Stoian.

A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Limerick Community Hall.
