Obituary of Bill Keck
William “Willie” “Bill” Keck, beloved husband of the late Hilda Keck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, SK, at the age of 98 years.
Bill was born on April 15, 1927, on the family homestead (SE 13-11-7 W3rd), located fourteen miles west of Gravelbourg. He was the eldest of six children born to Adam and Katherine (née Grill) Keck. He attended Busch School and later Maltby School. Bill truly enjoyed farming alongside his dad and brothers, Pete and Andrew, and later with his nephews. A master of many trades, Bill was never afraid to tackle any project, no matter how big or small. Whether building a house by blueprints or designing a swath roller for the mustard crop. He took pride in his work.
On June 15, 1972, Bill met the love of his life, Hilda Adolphe. They were married on July 6, 1973, and made their home on the Keck family homestead west of Gravelbourg. There, they built a beautiful life together. In addition to farming, Bill and Hilda enjoyed travelling, square dancing, bowling, and playing bridge. In 1998, they retired from the farm and moved into the town of Gravelbourg.
Bill’s faith was strong and he was deeply involved in the Catholic Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the altar. Bill was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bill is reunited in Heaven with his loving wife, Hilda Keck (2020); his parents, Adam and Katherine (née Grill) Keck; his brother Peter (Gilberte) Keck; his sister Mary (Clarence Smith) Keck; his brother Anthony Keck; and his sister-in-law Katherine Keck.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother Andrew Keck; his sister, Theresa (Stuart) MacMillan; his sister-in-law Eileen Keck; and many nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK, with Rev. Father Martial Kouame and Father Carlos Jimenez presiding. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, with Archbishop Donald J. Bolen as celebrant.
