Obituary of Cynthia Gour

Cynthia Grace Gour (née Adharsingh)
February 18, 1948 – October 1, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Grace Gour at her home in Mossbank, SK, on October 1, 2025. She was born on February 18, 1948, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Cynthia was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Dolly; her first husband; brothers, Denny and Selwyn; in-laws George and Linda Namespetro; sister-in-law Margaret (Don).

She is survived by her beloved husband Gordon Namespetro; sister-in-law Helen; sister Ann; daughters Nerissa (Sheldon), Allison (fiancé Dexter), Beverly (Andrew). Cynthia’s greatest joy came from her five grandchildren: Cecilia, Sherisse, Harrison, Evan, and Lezlie. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews in Alberta, Montreal, Venezuela, and abroad, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her life, Cynthia was surrounded by children. Most of her career was devoted to childcare, working in facilities as well as running her own day home. She was also employed as a nanny to many parents with professional careers, a role that gave her a sense of distinction and pride, as she was deeply revered for her care and love for children. Her caring heart extended even further, as she also cared for disabled adults during her career. Supporting and helping others was simply in her blood.

In 2008, Cynthia and Gordon moved to Mossbank, where they embraced the rhythm of small-town life. They built lasting friendships and found warmth in their community. Cynthia was known for her friendly walks down Main Street, waving, stopping to chat, and bringing joy wherever she went. Gordon steadily built up his clientele through his heating and cooling business, while Cynthia found her place among the welcoming people of the town.

For her family, Mossbank became a second home. Every long weekend, her children and grandchildren would make the 7–8 hour trip, sometimes a little faster, if no RCMP were spotted along the way! Their visits always included shopping trips to the discount department store in Assiniboia (fondly known as the Apple Store, formerly the Bargain Shop) and to Fields.

Summers were marked by family BBQs and dinners that Cynthia and Gordon hosted, full of food, laughter, and friendship. No visit was ever complete without a backyard fire, marshmallows supplied by “Grandad,” and cherished moments under the prairie sky.

Even when the weather kept them from their traditions, the memories remained strong. Those times of togetherness, joy, and love will be treasured forever.

Cynthia’s family is especially grateful for the wonderful friendships and good neighbours she and Gordon found in Mossbank. Over the years, those relationships grew into an extension of the family, a source of comfort and connection that meant so much to her.

Cynthia will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless cherished memories.

Visitation will take place on Friday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Piché Hawkins Grondin Funeral Chapel, 601 Highway 2 North, Assiniboia, SK. A Celebration of Cynthia’s Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. All who loved Cynthia are welcome to attend.
