Obituary of Paula Craig
Paula Kim Craig of Assiniboia, SK, passed away unexpectedly October 14, 2025. She was born March 7, 1966, in Assiniboia, SK. The youngest of two girls born to Ross and Marcia (née Stamm) Craig. Paula was predeceased by her mother, Marcia, in 1993.
Paula was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder with symptoms that change throughout a person’s life. Despite the challenges it brought, Paula’s life was rich with love, laughter and meaningful connections.
In 1974, the family moved to the Stamm family homestead, one mile west of Vantage, and in the early 1980s Paula moved to Moose Jaw, where she enjoyed being part of the Citizens All Organization, living in a Group Home setting and working at Diversified Services. There she formed many lasting friendships and became part of a close-knit community she also considered family. In 2016, as her mobility needs increased, Paula moved back to Assiniboia and became a resident of the Ross Payant Nursing Home.
Paula loved puzzles and had a natural gift for instantly finding just the right piece. She also enjoyed word searches, crafting and creating projects for sale with Diversified Services. She especially enjoyed extended summer and winter visits with her sister Teresa at Gold Willow Ranch whom she affectionately referred to as “Sis”. She was happiest when surrounded by family, animals and nature. Paula cherished her time spent gardening, processing the harvest and canning, snipping beans or shelling peas. She loved bottle-feeding newborn calves and helping warm them up in the porch. She always took great pride in her work and independence with tasks. She also loved to have horseback rides on Houdini.
Paula also had two very special dogs, both affectionately named Sandy, that held a special place in her heart. Family was everything to Paula and she was especially grateful to have celebrated Thanksgiving just a couple of weeks ago with her sister, brother-in-law and treasured nieces, nephews and their families.
Paula has earned her wings. She will forever be remembered for her gentle heart, her joyful spirit and her unconditional love.
Paula leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Teresa (Michael) Broeder; nieces and nephews Stephanie Broeder (Steve), Jacob Broeder (Heather), and Jasmine Broeder (Braidy); great-nephews and great-nieces Cooper, Corbin, Carter, Vincent and Sophia. She was predeceased by her niece Kira Broeder in 2004.
