Obituary of Tyler Hutchinson
It is with profound sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Tyler Brett Hutchinson, on November 11, 2025. He was 49 years old.
Tyler was born on September 19, 1976, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Doug and Holly Hutchinson. He was a loving husband and father, a devoted son, brother, and friend.
From the moment Ty was born, he brought life and laughter to our lives. He had the natural ability to light up every conversation and every room that he entered. So, it wasn’t surprising to us that the skies were ablaze on Tuesday evening when Ty entered Heaven, surrounded and held by the people he loved most on this earth. We believe Jesus took him by the hand and in the next moment he was embraced by his good buddy Jeff, his dear cousin Eliza, and TerraLee’s sweet cousin Kanda.
Ty, or Hutch, was a man of every talent. From his earliest days, he could draw the most incredible pencil art. He had a naturally gifted eye for design, which he used to create many logos, floor plans, and characters. This led him to take a course in AutoCAD, and he started his career. It was during his time at university in Saskatoon that Tyler met the love of his life, TerraLee, through mutual friends on a trip back home to Mossbank. His connection was instant, but being the shy guy he was, he didn’t quite muster up the courage to act on it then. Their love story truly began when TerraLee later moved to Medicine Hat to attend college. There, their lives intertwined in all the ways that matter, and the foundation of their future together was set. They soon made their way back home, like all Good Sasky’s do. They married in August 2001, and Moose Jaw would be their home. In 2002 they welcomed their first daughter, Hazel followed by Meerika in 2006, and their son, Brettin in 2008. Tyler’s greatest joy was being a dad, and he was immensely proud of each one his children, actively participating and enjoying all their activities, from dance to wrestling, hockey to ball.
Tyler carried a lifelong dream of creating something bigger than himself—a legacy rooted in pride for his home, its people, and the connections that shaped his life. That dream became GoodSasky. To him, it wasn’t just a brand; it was a heartbeat of Saskatchewan. He believed that those who come here should feel not only the strength of our land but the strength of our people—tougher, kinder, built with more heart. GoodSasky was Tyler’s way of showing the world who we are and inviting them to wear that spirit proudly. From local athletes to travelling hockey players, from everyday neighbours to even Garth Brooks himself, Tyler poured his passion into creating something that others could carry with them—a symbol of belonging, resilience, and the good that lives here.
In 2018, when our entire province and world was mourning the devastating bus accident involving the Humboldt Broncos, Tyler decided he wanted to design something that the whole CJHL could use to not only commemorate the tragic events but also help with the healing process. Tyler designed the logo “We Play for Them” which was worn on the helmets and jerseys across the CJHL. A proud moment for all of us who know Ty, even though he was shy about the recognition.
In 2022 he switched careers and started working for Pattison Ag, Swift Current office. He loved people, and people loved him, which made him a natural talent in Sales. He loved this job, and the people he worked with. He only wished that he had found this career sooner. He couldn’t wait to get back to work and fought hard to try.
Tyler was an avid sports fan. He also had the ability to remember endless stats and follow multiple teams. Growing up in Mossbank, he played hockey and ball. He absolutely loved being part of a team and developed many lifelong and close friendships. He loved his friends; some of them were like brothers. The stories are endless, and everyone who knew him will have one to tell. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh. This was true his entire life, even when life got hard. He was never one to back down or stay down. He was a fighter, a protector, and a promise keeper. He noticed the underdog and gave quietly and generously, often behind the scenes, or anonymously.
Tyler was a man of faith; he looked to God for the answers to his tough questions and prayed quietly but fervently for the people he loved. He worked hard to become the man he desired to be and lived out those traits daily. Oh, how we will miss him and wish for him to be with us, but we draw comfort in knowing that he is with Jesus, and we will see him again. Until then, we will hold each other, protect each other, and love each other because that is what Tyler did, and it is what he would want us to do.
Tyler is lovingly remembered by his wife, TerraLee and children, Hazel (Reece), Meerika (Jaxsen), and Brettin. His parents, Doug and Holly Hutchinson, sister Tara (Mike) Boehm (Sterling (Shailey) Boehm, Olivia (Zach) Bachmann (Holly), Maclean (Jenna) Boehm, Anna Boehm) sister Jocelyn (Mark) Duncan (Dawson (Chiante) Duncan, Reagan Duncan) brother Brennan (Michelle) Hutchinson (Scarlett, Truett, Everett Hutchinson). Mother-in-law, Lynn Penna; brother-in-law, Travis (Jennifer) Penna (Nicholas (Hailey) Penna, Gracie and Ruby Penna), brother-in-law, Tyler (Hali) Penna (Madeleine and Edward). Many Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lloyd and Jean Hutchinson, Fred and Doreen Nagel and his father-in-law, John Penna.
