Obituary of Aime Morin

Armande Jeanne Morin, lovingly known as Aime, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92 years.

Aime was born on May 17, 1933, in Val Marie, Saskatchewan, the third of five children born to Ovide and Elizabeth Fiset. She grew up on the family farm alongside her siblings Lilliane, Violet, Lauraine, and Clifford, where she learned the values of hard work, gratitude, and caring for others that shaped her entire life.

She completed Grade 12 in Val Marie and went on to attend one semester at the University of Saskatchewan in 1953. Aime began her working career as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Gravelbourg, later serving at Assiniboia Union Hospital and at the hospital in Willow Bunch until its closure. She then returned to Gravelbourg, where she worked as a sales associate at Morin Brothers Jewelry

It was during this time that Aime met the love of her life, François “Frank” Morin in his father’s store. They became engaged on New Year’s Day in 1953 and were married on September 22, 1954. They were blessed with eight children. Together, they owned and operated Morin Jewellers in Assiniboia and, in 1979, purchased Morin Brothers Jewelry in Gravelbourg after the passing of Frank’s father. Together, François and Noè operated their jewelry businesses for over 80 years.

Aime lived a life of service and involvement. She was a figure skating judge and test chairperson for the Assiniboia club, did agriculture and census surveys, worked as a World Book representative, served as bookkeeper for the bowling club, and enjoyed many years in the Assiniboia Bowling League. She also served as President of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides.

Her faith was central to her life. Aime was deeply involved in parish life as a sacristan, communion minister, reader, choir member, rosary leader, and she faithfully served at funerals. One of her most treasured memories was her pilgrimage to Israel, particularly the Entry into Jerusalem and walking the Via Dolorosa (the way of the cross), an experience that deeply moved her spirit.

Aime had many hobbies that brought her joy, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzles, crosswords, playing cards, and games at family gatherings. She had a great love of travel, with memorable trips to Yellowstone’s Old Faithful, Portugal, Greece, Cuba, Disneyland in California, the Rose Bowl Parade, Niagara Falls, and many special family adventures. She and Frank also delighted in social dancing and square dancing. Sadly, Frank passed away in 2019. Aime moved to Moose Jaw a few years later to be closer to family. She truly enjoyed the new friendships she made while living at Mulberry Estates.

Aime was a loving and caring mother with an energetic soul. She was a wonderful teacher to her children, instilling respect, kindness, and a love of family, along with simple pleasures such as gardening and sewing. Her greatest passion was helping others, and she lived with deep gratitude for life and for all she had been given.

Aime leaves to cherish her memory her loving family: daughter Lise (Ken) Julian, grandchildren Dori Julian (Karson Levack) and Tess (Josh) Wheeler; daughter Denise (Gary) Munford, grandchildren Keasto Munford (Cara McAlaster), Terence Munford (Kathrina Avery), Gina Munford (Erik Danecker), and Jolene Munford ( fiancée Tyler Stone);
son Daniel (Gloria) Morin, grandchildren David Morin, John (Alysha Aussant), Chantal (Austin) Pankratz, and Jeffrey Morin; son Kim Morin; her sisters Violet Kasper and Lauraine Sincennes; and her brother Clifford (Gloria) Fiset.

She was predeceased by her husband Francois “Frank” Morin (2019); her children Marc (1956), Luc (1973), Marie (1975), and Giles (1976); her parents Ovide and Elizabeth Fiset; her sister and brother-in-law Lilliane (Nick) Lastuka; and brothers-in-law Mike Kasper and Lionel Sincennes.
