Obituary of Monique Brisebois

Monique Renée Marie Brisebois passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the Prairie View Health Centre in Mankota SK, with loving family by her side, at the age of 92 years. Monique was born on June 20,1933, on her parents' farm south of Ferland, SK. She was the fifth of six children born to Georges and Pauline Massé.

Monique attended school in Gravelbourg and in the McCord area. On July 1,1954, she married the love of her life, Marcel Henri Brisebois. Together, they built a life farming and raising their family in the Ferland district and were blessed with four children: Michel, Robert, Lise and Daniel.

Observant and unassuming, Mom was the quiet backbone of our family. She held the family together in ways that people rarely saw but always felt. Mom carried her strength quietly, steadily and unwaveringly, without seeking attention.

Mom was known for being a wonderful, kind and caring Mother and Grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always provided a listening ear and comforted us with her warm meals. She created a welcoming home, always happy to see us come in the door and join her table. When we think of her, we think of her immaculate gardens, her distaste for weeds, her love of flowers, her crocheting and knitting and her want to take care of her loved ones. Mom enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Arizona for 20 years as snowbirds with Dad, spending time with friends and creating memories.

Mom wouldn’t stay still very much, always keeping everything in perfect order and running smoothly, but would take a pause for her afternoon soaps. Always up for a game of cards, silently taking over the game and teasing Dad that he was cheating. She was a quiet presence with a sharp, sarcastic humour – proof that the best one liners were worth waiting for.

Monique is survived by her loving family:
Michel and Leeta Brisebois: Chelsi Brisebois (Ryan), Ryan Brisebois (Maddy – Aubrey and Sutter), Chad Brisebois (MaKinley), and Kent Brisebois
Robert and Lisa Brisebois: Jacquelyn McWillie (Justin – Blake, Nash and Grady), Michelle Brisebois-Germs (Lyndon – Emersyn and Liam), and Carmen Brisebois (Nicolas - Marcel)
Lise Brisebois-Blouin and Gerald: Jordan Blouin (Carlie – Teagan, Hannah, and Kensie). Chantal Blouin (Tim – Tayva and Sky), Jason Blouin (Mel – Presley and Brynn)
Daniel and Joanne Brisebois: Braedon Brisebois (Kelsey), Keegan Brisebois, Garret Brisebois, and Jada Brisebois.

Monique is also survived by her brother - Father Arthur Massé OMI, sisters-in-law Eva Massé and Lucie Pouteaux, brother-in-law Adrien Brisebois and nephews and nieces.

Monique was predeceased by her husband Marcel Brisebois; parents Georges and Pauline Massé; parents in-law Adrien James and Alma Brisebois; brothers Raymond, Paul and René Massé; sister Jeannine Yakymyk; in-laws Jeanne Massé, Hélène Masse, Peter Yakymyk, Thérèse and Hector Massé, Trefflé and Irène Brisebois, Cécile and Gérard Monette, Aimé and Gertrude Brisebois, Yvette and Marcel Nobert, Raymond Pouteaux, Marie and Henry Bolen, Emma Mercier and Elmer Benaschek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
