Obituary of Reg Mayo
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reginald Clive Mayo, on February 20, 2026, at the age of 79, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan.
Reg was born on February 25, 1946, in Upper Norwood, London, England, to Doreen and Rex Mayo. After the war, his family came to Canada and settled in Hazenmore, Saskatchewan.
In his early years, Reg worked in seismic across Canada. He eventually returned to the family farm, where he spent many years farming, moving buildings, and doing metal fabrication in his shop. Reg had a true passion for all things mechanical and could most often be found welding, fixing, building, or creating something new. Throughout his life Reg was faced with much adversity, his determination never wavered, and he continued to work hard and live life on his own terms.
In later years, Reg enjoyed being part of his community, especially morning coffee at the hall, fires in the shop, and caring for the farm and land he loved so much. Reg loved animals, especially dogs and they loved him right back.
Reg will be remembered for his tremendous sense of humour and his love of a good practical joke. If you knew him, you likely found yourself the target of one of his tricks. His quick wit and playful spirit were a big part of who he was.
Above all, Reg loved his family. He is survived by his partner, Bea Howe; her children Darcy (Sharon) and their children, and Sherry and her children; his sons Geoff (Ashleigh) and their son Grayson, and Tyler (Missy); his sister, Michelle (Harvey), brother-in-law Lyle, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Doreen and Rex Mayo, his infant brothers Geoff, Gary and Robert, his brother John, and his sister Helen.
In keeping with Reg’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Hazenmore Hall from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Sharing of memories (open mic) will take place from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., with lunch and fellowship to follow.
Reg will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
