Obituary of Wayne Rosenfelt

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Wayne Frederick Rosenfelt. Wayne passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Clover House facility in Swift Current, with his family at his side.

Wayne was born on September 27, 1951, in Lafleche, SK. He attended Meyronne and Kincaid schools. After high school, Wayne attended post-secondary in Moose Jaw for autobody. Soon after, he was employed by SaskPower.

In 1972, Wayne married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, June Lech. In 1975, their first child, Derrick, was born. Wayne, June and Derrick moved to Glenbain, SK in 1976, and their second child, Carla, was born the same year. They welcomed their youngest daughter, Amber in 1981.

Wayne enjoyed a life of farming and was especially proud of the farm he and June acquired north of Meyronne. It provided great memories and formed a bond of friendship between Wayne, June and a group of hunters that rented the farmhouse during that time. He also worked for Phil Lech in electrical for many years. He retired from farming independently in 2013 but found a renewed passion for seeding and harvest time working for David Lech.

Wayne was an active member of his community, and he was affectionately referred to as “the Mayor of Glenbain.” He belonged to the Lion’s Club, the local school board and the community club. He played ball with the Glenbain Tramps for many years and coached his kids in minor ball. Wayne was a devoted sports enthusiast who took great pleasure in watching games, whether cheering on the Blue Jays, the Roughriders, or following a curling match; but his greatest joy was supporting his grandchildren at their many activities.

Music was a very important part of Wayne’s life; his passion and appreciation for music started at a young age, when he learned to play guitar. Whether it be jamming in the basement or playing with different bands, especially with the local band, Notekeu, Wayne always found a way to share his love of music with those around him.

Wayne will be remembered for his warm sense of humour and wit. He was always ready to lend a hand, never hesitating to put the needs of others before his own. He had a deep love for those closest to him, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. Wayne and June’s home has always been a place of warmth and welcome, with a door that was always open to family, friends, and anyone who happened to stop by.

Wayne is survived by his wife June, son Derrick (Dena), and their children Kaylee and Talon, daughter Carla and her children Olivia and Logan, daughter Amber (Kris), and their daughter Ava, sister-in-law Diane Jordet, brother-in-law Les Jordet and their families, cousin Lance (Fran), and Dillen families, close family friend Wanda Semeniuk and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Ethel, infant brother Dale, parents-in-law Alma and Andrew Lech, brother-in-law Floyd Lech and sister and brother-in-law Margie and Harvey Funk.

Wayne will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Our sincere gratitude to all the caregivers throughout Wayne’s journey, especially to the staff of Clover House in Swift Current.
