Obituary of Carole Bourgeois

Carolyn (Carole) Margaret Bourgeois

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carole Margaret Bourgeois on Friday, March 13, at the Regina General Hospital, surrounded by family.

Carole was born on January 22, 1946, at the Regina General Hospital to Andrew and Barbara Lawrence. She was the youngest of two children, with an older brother, Don. She grew up in Regina.

Carole is survived by her husband Louis of 32 years, her children Michelle (Keith) Donald, Melissa (Eric) Gurash, Andrea Sinclair (Wes) and grandchildren Brayden (Jordyn) Gurash, Logan-Marie (Brock) Carlson, Cameron Milligan, Caden Milligan, Jenah Sinclair and Cole Sinclair and great granddaughter Davida Gurash. Carole was also mom to many of our friends growing up, and many call her mom to this day.

Carole’s early life was filled with days helping out at her dad’s butcher shop and summers at the family cabin at Wee Too beach.

Her great loves were her dogs Bambi, Max, Daisy and Ben. She had most recently added a cat, Bootsie, to her home. She had a great love of animals and enjoyed her pets and those of her children, and loved receiving photos of them.

Some of her pastimes included painting, crochet and other crafts. Her online handle was ‘Craftea’, which fit her perfectly, she crafted handmade baby layettes without a pattern, she was extremely talented. She sewed her own wedding dress and bridesmaids’ dresses for her wedding to Louis. There was no project she couldn’t tackle. She made the best Halloween costumes and was known for creating the best Headless Horseman costume that won Andrea a first place for costume on the CBC show Switchback.

Carole had a passion for music and dancing; she took her daughters to the Eureka Club in Regina for their Saturday nights dances every week. She met her husband, Louis, at one such dance.  She taught us girls, how to have fun without drinking.

She was known by her grandkids as the ‘cool’ gramma. She loved rock and roll music, and she loved introducing them to her favourite such as Dr. Hook and Elvis. One of her favourite roles was being a Grandma, she loved her grandchildren so much and often spoke about how proud she was of them.

We thank the medical staff at the Regina General Hospital 3E for their compassionate care. To a special nurse on the day of her passing, Tish, who treated the whole family with special compassion, we felt cared for by her.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 25, 2026, in the Legion Hall, Gravelbourg, SK at 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
