Diane Gervais (née Douville), age 79 years, of Ponteix, SK passed away April 3, 2026, at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix, SK.
Diane was born in Lafleche on August 1, 1946. She attended school in Ponteix for 11 years and completed her 12th grade in Val Marie. She then completed a business course in Regina and worked as a stenographer for the Royal Bank and subsequently in the accounting department at IPSCO. Upon returning to Ponteix in 1979, she worked as a teacher’s aide in the elementary school before taking the position of secretary at the high school. Always a hard worker, Diane had a second job at Ponteix Manor Nursing Home, caring for the elderly. Her work reflected who she was – a loving, caring person. In the early 90’s, Diane met the love of her life, Gerard Fournier. Diane built a life with Gerard, splitting her time between Ponteix and his farm south of Kincaid prior to purchasing a home together and coming to live full-time in Ponteix in 2013.
Consistent with her caring nature, Diane was happiest when she was entertaining – cooking, baking, and feeding family and friends. Diane, with Gerard at her side, was much loved and actively involved in her community in and around Ponteix. Diane was very social and had many friends. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards and Scrabble, listening to country music, working in her garden, and keeping a meticulous home.
Diane is survived by her spouse of 30 years, Gerard Fournier; her children: Shannon Walters (Ross) and Shawn Creighton; her grandchild, Eric Walters; her siblings: Louise Douville (Joel Davidson), Winnipeg, MB, Jeanne Petterson (Mel), Shaunavon, SK, Julien Douville (Helen), Ponteix, SK, Margo Durling (Harry) Regina, SK, and Norman Douville, Saskatoon, SK; her stepchildren: Roxanne Behrman (Mark), Brigite Fournier (Gerard Huber), and Guy Fournier; her step-grandchildren: Mélanie, Conrad, Cloé (Eric), Pascale, Maxime, Shae-Lynn, Rae-Anne, Maelle, Chanté, Kiefer, and Lexis; and step-great grandchild Lorenzo. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Philippe and Rita Douville; her brother-in-law, Terry Trevors and her stepson, Paul Fournier.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M., April 9, 2026, at Notre Dame d'Auvergne Catholic Church, Ponteix, SK, with Father Nestor Gregoire as celebrant, followed by a lunch in the Notre Dame Parish Hall. The internment service will be held at the St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ferland, SK and a supper will follow in the Ferland Community Hall.
