Obituary of Gerard Mondor
Louis Arthur Gerard Mondor of Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, passed away in Meadow Lake on April 4, 2026. He was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Emelda Mondor, as well as siblings Henri Lorenzo, Noella (Hard), Florence (Ferland), Gaston, and John. He is survived by 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Gerard was born on the family farm near Willow Bunch on September 22, 1935, and was the youngest of six children. He loved working the land and was a successful and resourceful farmer. After taking early retirement, he continued helping Lorenzo and his cousin Paul Mondor with their harvests for several years. He travelled throughout North America and enjoyed countless camping trips. Much beloved by his family, he is remembered for his wisdom and knowledge of folklore, generosity, ingenuity and the importance of community life.
A celebration of his life will be held in Assiniboia at Piche Hawkins Grondin Funeral Chapels on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charity of your Choice.
