Obituary of Eion Davidson

“It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our dad, Eion Davidson”.

Eion Cameron Davidson, affectionately known as Scotty, was born September 8, 1926, on the farm, Sec. 21, Tp. 10, Rge. 3, W3rd, at Palmer, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the family farm with his sister, Mary. He made his way to school by walking, riding on his bike or by horse. Working on the farm was hard work back in the 1930s and on through the years, but you could always hear Dad singing when he was out on a tractor.

Eion married Stella Deaust on October 25, 1952. Shortly after, they purchased the Geske farm and, later, his parents' farm. They also purchased other farms over the years, like Irven and McCully. In 1955, they welcomed Dwaine and later, in 1960, a daughter, Darlene, who passed at birth. They adopted two baby girls, Bonnie in 1961, and Colleen in 1963. In 1966, they had Dale, completing the family.

Throughout the years, he did numerous carpentry jobs during the winter, in addition to farming and having cattle. Curling was another passion he had. Eion would curl in every little town with a curling rink. He curled against teams like the Richardsons & Campbells.

Thinking back on Dad’s life from a boy until his passing, Dad was always a hard worker. All the rocks he picked, the dandelions that never stood a chance, the gallons of water he pumped into the garden and trees, the bales he hauled and stacked, the grass he mowed and mowed, Dad worked hard all his life, steady and strong. Rows of raspberries stood ready for picking, and Dad did so early in the mornings before anything else. Bringing trays into Gravelbourg for those who wanted fresh berries. Dad had a giving heart and helped so many people in his lifetime.

In 2001, Eion had his auction sale but continued to live on the farm until 2007, when he retired from farming and cattle; he still was on the farm most of the time. Helping other young farmers and running equipment kept Eion happy. He retired and moved to Moose Jaw. He enjoyed his home, doing yard work and going out for coffee with the guys.

In March 2024, Eion moved to the Mulberry Estates, which was a significant change for him, as he could no longer drive or manage the big yard. After declining health, he moved to Esterhazy into a personal care home. Eion went to Moosomin Palliative Care on July 15^th, 2026, until his passing on August 8^th, 2026, peacefully and into the arms of those waiting for him.

He will be fondly remembered by family and many friends.

Eion is survived by his son Dwaine; daughters Bonnie and Colleen; grandchildren Jeremy (Karen), Erin (Aaron), and Taylor (Sydney); great-grandchildren Blair, Regan, Quinn, Layne, Laityn, and Maveryk; daughters-in-law Tammy and Barb; son-in-law Mike; numerous nieces; and dear friend Rhae.

Eion is predeceased by his wife Stella; parents Thomas and Annabelle; infant daughter Darlene; son Dale; sister Mary; brother-in-law Nick; and son-in-law Chris.

A private family interment will take place.
