Obituary of Irene Lefebvre

Irène (née Lagassé) Lefebvre of Gravelbourg, SK, affectionately known as “Meyronne” passed away peacefully with the love of her family by her side, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, at the age of 60 years.

Irène was born on April 29, 1966, the third child of Emile and Gisèle (née Rivard) Lagassé. She received her schooling in Gravelbourg and from an early age developed a lifelong passion for riding motorcycles. She travelled many miles, enjoying the freedom of the open road and sharing good times with her friends throughout the surrounding communities. She truly enjoyed attending the St. Victor Boogie.

On April 25, 1992, Irène married her soulmate, Robert Lefebvre, at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral. Together they welcomed two daughters, Cassandra, born November 18, 1995, and Rebecca, born July 24, 1998. She loved her girls fiercely and took great pride in her grandchildren, who brought her a whole new kind of joy. She loved being part of their lives, celebrating their birthdays and milestones, and being there for the everyday moments.

Irène had a beautiful spirit and a wonderful zest for life. Together Irène and Robert shared love, laughter and many adventures. A highlight was a motorcycle trip to Kelowna. She enjoyed quilting, diamond art and making dolls, including her treasured “Little Red Riding Hood Topsy Turvy Flip Doll.” She loved games and was also an avid collector of Michaud Toys and took great pride in her collection. A lover of 1980s music, she especially enjoyed The Eagles and always turned the volume up!

Irène worked at LeBlanc’s Red and White Store and, for a time, ran her own daycare. She loved her time working with everyone at Bon Ami and, for many years, brought her own special level of fun and enjoyment to the residents through the Activities Department at Foyer d’Youville. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of family and friends, her generous heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Irène leaves to cherish her memory her husband Robert Lefebvre, daughter Cassandra (Shane) Allen, grandchildren Kale and Emma; daughter Rebecca Lefebvre; sister Diane (André) Paulhus, brother Jean Lagassé; Robert’s siblings Jeffrey (Vi) Lefebvre, Mildred Nobert, Helen Fouquet, Ruth Dupont, Rita Weist; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents Emile and Gisèle Lagassé, sister Louise and brother-in-law Paul Lalonde; parents-in-law Betty and Jean-Louis Lefebvre; sister-in-law Rosemary Fiore and brothers-in-law Joe Fiore, Claude Nobert, John Fouquet, Ron Dupont, Gary Weist.

A Private Family Service will be held.
