Obituary of Nick Pana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicolai “Nick” Pana at the Assiniboia Long Term Care on November 29, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Nick was born on April 16, 1928 on the family farm near Wood Mountain. Nick was a proud rancher and farmer, living most of his life on the family homestead. He loved the land, cattle and horses. He married the love of his life Ludmila “Lucille” Hildebrand on June 4, 1960. They were blessed with five children. In 1995, they bought a house in Assiniboia. After farming, Nick worked for the Assiniboia Stockyards for about five years and on the Rutledge Ranch. Nick was especially proud that his youngest son is the third generation to carry on with the farm. Nick has fond memories of travelling and seeing the country. His hobbies included reading and braiding rope, bridles and lines with leather and twine. He was a proud member of St. George’s Parish, Assiniboia 55 Club and the Limerick 49ers Club. Nick’s message to his family and friends is to keep the home fires burning and never give up spirit. Nick leaves to mourn his wife Lucille Pana, daughter Sharon (Gene) Bergeron, daughter Sandra (Yogi) Lipsett, daughter Barbara (Barry) Stettner, son Brendan (Cathy) Pana and son Nicholas (Bonnie) Pana; grandchildren Brianna Bergeron (Adam Wolf), Darby Bergeron, Calico (Vanessa) Lipsett, Kaycee (Julie) Lipsett, Jaydan Stettner, Cali (Jared) Leach, Dillan Pana, Sabrina (Dustin) Howells, Tristan Pana, Nicole (Tyrell) Hicks and Kyle Pana;  greatgrandchildren Nico and Keona Lipsett, Abby, Dusty and Brendan Leach, Briealla, Eilum and Mila Howells and Walker Hicks;  brother Billie (Mimi) Pana and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandson Kyrean Pana; parents Vasile & Florea Pana; brothers John (Mary) Pana, George Pana, and Peter (Elsie) Pana; sisters Victoria (John Monea) (Clarke McIntosh), Aurelia (Conrad) Istrati, Fanny (George) Chiro, Genie (John Oancia) (Leo Suchiu) and Anna (Doug) Woods. A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Assiniboia.
