Obituary of Cyril WALKER
On January 5, 2014 Cyril Walker, longtime resident of Assiniboia, Sk. passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 69 years. Cyril was born on May 17, 1944 in Assiniboia, Sk. His parents, George and Evelyn Walker, farmed for many years in the Cardross district and then moved to Mission, B.C. in 1957. Cyril attended school in both places. He returned with his mom to Assiniboia in 1959 and worked at Cy's Auto until 1976. He moved to Limerick in 1978 to care for his mother. In 1993 Cyril moved to Gravelbourg and worked as a caretaker at Thomson Lake until 1996. In 1998 he moved back to Assiniboia. Cyril enjoyed doing odd jobs, he was great at fixing things and doing small carpentry jobs, especially for his landlord Marj Vales. Cyril lived quietly, enjoyed music, he loved to tinker and fix things, he liked all types of wildlife and liked to fish and hunt. He enjoyed visiting and appreciated the friendship and care given by his close friends and neighbors. Cyril was predeceased by his father George in 1956, his mother Evelyn in 1993 and is survived by numerous cousins scattered throughout Canada. In keeping with Cyril's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held in the spring, where his ashes will be interred beside his beloved mother, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Limerick.
