Obituary of Jack Myles

John "Jack" Thomas Myles of Mossbank, Saskatchewan, departed from this world on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 72 years. Jack was born on April 17, 1951 in Gravelbourg. He was the fourth of nine children born to David and Elizabeth (nee McKenna) Myles.

Jack attended school in Mazenod, SK. He enjoyed farming with his father, and he honed his skills as a butcher and established "Jack's Bone Shack" on the family farm. In the late 1980s, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to build "Myles Meats" in Vantage, SK, a testament to his commitment to quality and service.

Later in life, Jack embarked on a new chapter, embracing a role as a dedicated salesman for John Deere. His natural charisma and genuine care for his customers made him an exemplary representative. He was an avid gardener, often found tending to his beloved plants well into the late hours. Jack’s passions extended to the catering world. He was a well-known barbeque pitmaster who orchestrated large meals for various events, including the Moose Jaw airshows, community gatherings, and the Wood Mountain Rodeo. His roast beef was sought after far and wide, a testament to his culinary expertise.

Jack’s warm-hearted nature was infectious, endearing him to all who crossed his path. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his Scottish heritage, practical organizing skills, and his penchant for collecting auction sale treasures. Some might say he was an organized hoarder. Whether it was a long drive, salmon fishing on the coast, or simply spending time with his cherished family and friends, Jack approached life with a spirit of adventure and joy.

Jack is survived by his loving family, including his devoted wife Diana "Jo" Myles, his sons Grant (Natalie) Myles and Bryan (Kristina) Myles, and his stepsons Michael (Tracy) Sullivan and Tim (Kirby) Sullivan. He will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren: Jack, Luka, Mackenzie, Haley, Jaden, Cameron, William, Zoey, and Emmett. His siblings Bob (Terri) Myles, Wendy (Dennis) Tournat, Sheena (Raymond) Wirges, Vicki Myles, Valerie Myles (John), Nancy Myles (Al), Scott (Carol) Myles, and Jan Myles (Freddie), mother-in-law Marj Linn, sister-in-law Susan Metin, brother-in-law Bob (Cindy) Linn and numerous nieces and nephews will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Jack was predeceased by his parents David and Elizabeth Myles, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023@2:00 p.m. at the Mossbank Community Hall, Mossbank, Saskatchewan.
