Connie Belle (née Haggard) Mitchell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family at Ross Payant Nursing Home in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.

Connie was born on January 21, 1934, in Tate, Saskatchewan, to Archie and Mildred (Peck) Haggard. She was the third of eight children, growing up in Lemberg, Saskatchewan, where she received her education.

In her early years, Connie worked at the Royal Bank in Lemberg and later in Imperial and Moosomin. It was in Moosomin that she met the love of her life, George James Mitchell. They were united in marriage on April 15, 1954, in Lemberg. After their marriage, they resided in Moosomin until September 1956, when they moved to Assiniboia. They were blessed with six children: Terrie, Kathie, Ken, Susan, Rob and Donna. In the 1960s, Connie returned to work and became an integral part of the Ross Payant Nursing Home staff in 1967. She also worked at the Bank of Montreal before retiring, having made lasting connections with both colleagues and residents.

Connie was an active member of the Royal Purple for over 25 years, serving in various executive roles and even holding the position of District Deputy three times. She dedicated herself to this organization and contributed to its success.

Connie had a range of interests and passions. She was known for her skilled knitting, crafting mittens, sweaters, and slippers that her children and grandchildren cherished. She enjoyed spending time playing cards, particularly solitaire, Canasta, and whist. An avid golfer, Connie embraced the outdoors and cherished her time on the golf course. She was also a devoted fan, holding season tickets for the Saskatchewan Roughriders for over 15 years, showing her unwavering support for her team.

Connie and her husband George shared a love for travel. They embarked on a memorable Caribbean cruise and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. They even embarked on a six-week journey to the Maritimes during the fall season, relishing in the adventure. Connie ventured to Mexico on multiple occasions with her daughters, creating cherished memories and bonds that would last a lifetime.

In 1995, Connie faced the challenge of becoming a widow but remained resilient in her own home until 2002, when she decided to move to Regina to live with her daughter Kathie. In 2019, she returned to Assiniboia and resided in the Prairie Villa until July 2023, when she moved to Ross Payant Nursing Home.

Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband George, her parents Archie and Mildred Haggard, her in-laws John and Amanda Mitchell, her sisters Stella Miller and Doreen Bergfeld, her brother Jim Haggard, infant brother Stanley Haggard and her daughter Susan Caragata in 2023.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her daughters Terrie (Marc) Topola, Kathie Mitchell, and Donna (Tim) Armstrong, as well as her sons Ken (Madeline) Mitchell and Rob Mitchell. She is also survived by her son-in-law Steve Caragata, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and her brothers Don (Eleanor) Haggard, Larry (Colleen) Haggard, and Wayne Haggard, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie's impact on her family, community, and those she touched throughout her life will be deeply cherished and remembered fondly.
