Henry Wayne Sully

Henry Wayne Sully of Ardill, SK was born on June 1, 1942, and passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 81. On October 6, 1962, Wayne married Diane Clement of Mossbank, SK, and they were blessed with three children: Crystal in 1963, Curtis in 1965, and Kent in 1975. At the tender age of 24, Wayne took on the responsibility of running the family farm after his father's passing. In 2009, he felt immense pride as he was honoured with the esteemed 100th Century Farm award. Wayne’s family held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent together. Wayne was a natural at building and fixing anything. He constructed his own house and workshop in 1980 and delighted in creating fine woodworking projects, whether as gifts or simply for the joy of it. Gardening and yard work became his latest endeavours, transforming the old shelterbelt around the yard into a park-like setting for all to enjoy. Wayne always had a project in progress and persisted in his work until the very end. He was an active member of the Mossbank Kinsmen and K-40 organizations, he also served as a dedicated councillor for the RM of Lake Johnston No 102 for many years, embodying a true spirit of community service.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Diane Lee Sully (nee Clement); daughter Crystal (Paul) Thorburn, grandchildren Mark Thorburn, Nathan  (Amber) Thorburn and great-grandchild Hudson Thorburn; son Curtis Sully (Denise Martin), grandchildren Jacinda Sully, Grayson Sully, Corbin Sully and their mother Jennifer Sully; son Kent Sully  (Martiene Watts), grandchildren Erik Sully, Kora Sully, and Logan Sully; sister Fay (Keith) Reitan, as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Donna & Harvey Weiss, Winnie Heinrichs, and Russell Clement. Wayne was predeceased by his parents Charles Henry and Violet Ardella (nee Merklinger) Sully, daughter-in-law Jody Sully, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Heinrichs, Doug & Lenore Harris, Henry & Joyce Lawrence. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, @ 2:00 p.m. at Piché-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, 601 Highway 2 North, Assiniboia, SK. In lieu of flowers donations in Wayne’s memory can be given to STARS Ambulance, 2640 Airport RD, Regina, SK S4W 1A6 or Furrows and Faith Retirement Cooperative Ltd, Box 129 Mossbank, SK S0H 3G0.
