Obituary of Wayne Shaver

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Shaver, from Bengough, SK, on March 2, 2014, at the age of 75 years. Wayne was born in Bengough, SK on September 20, 1938, and a twin brother to Dwayne. The twins were welcomed home by siblings Arnold, Kay, Wilma, Frank and Wilfred, and the family was later completed with Betty. Wayne attended school at Curzon for seven years, spent one year at Waniska and completed his high school at Bengough. Wayne enjoyed growing up on a farm and was busy with animals to care for and land to tend to. Farming was Wayne’s passion and after graduation he began to farm full time with his parents, later purchasing their homestead. Wayne married the love of his life, Catherine Floyd, on October 4, 1958. They were blessed with three children, Kent, Kelly and Tracy. In 1969, Wayne and Cathy built a new home on the farm and, in 1992, they moved to Grid 705. Wayne was a hard working, trustworthy and intelligent man. He taught his family to live each day right to the very end, and to be strong. Wayne spent many hours working on jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed playing cards, and was talented with leather working. Wayne had a love for animals; he found great enjoyment in working with animals on the farm and took pride in always having his chores done. Wayne loved to travel and took many trips with Cathy; each vacation was special. Wayne will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Wayne leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years Cathy (nee Floyd); son Kent (Trudy) Shaver; son Kelly (Nancy) Shaver; daughter Tracy (Colin) Marshall; grandchildren Randi (Ryan) McKerricher, Riley Shaver, Dawn Moyse-Shaver (Garrett Jensen), Tanya Moyse-Shaver (Devan Mitchell), Layne Marshall, Leah Marshall; great grandchildren Teryn McKerricher, Brenna McKerricher, Nash Mitchell, Hope Jensen; brothers Arnold Shaver, Wilfred (Marilyn) Shaver; sister Wilma (George) LaRose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
