Obituary of Allan Green

Allan Roy Green, 74, of Gravelbourg, SK, went to heaven on Friday, March 7, 2014, after a lengthy heart and kidney illness in his winter home in Moose Jaw, SK, with his loving wife by his side. He was born to the late Roy and Evelyn Green, August 7, 1939, on the family farm near Gravelbourg. He married Diane Aline Clermont on September 26, 1964, in Gravelbourg. They lived together 7 miles north of Gravelbourg until they moved to Gravelbourg in 2009 to be closer to the hospital and in the last 2 winters to Moose Jaw to save winter driving 3 times a week for dialysis. Allan was a farmer until he was forced to retire due to illness in 2009; although he was still a farmer at heart until his passing. There was not a part of farming that he did not enjoy; it was a career and a past time to him. Allan also enjoyed hunting, trapping, curling, travelling, playing cards, reading Louis L’Amour books, and watching nature shows. In the last 8 years, Allan’s favorite interest was his two grandsons. He lived for them; to see them, watch them, talk to them. Allan was predeceased by his brother in law Claude Clermont in 1966; his mother Evelyn (Lefort) Green in 1989; his father Roy Green in 1992; his mother in law Yvette (Bourgeois) Clermont and father in law Germain Clermont both in 1997. Allan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Diane Green; his two children: Denis (Kelly) Green of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Roxane (Chad) Young of Gravelbourg; and his two grandsons: Daniel Green and Matteo Young; his 6 siblings: Iris (Laurie) Davidson of Saskatoon; Carole (Bob) Gamble of Thompson Lake; Linda (Alan) Schmidt of Gravelbourg; Donald (Denise) Green of Gravelbourg; Stella (Brian) Nordick of Saskatoon, and Diane (Real) Deaust of Bateman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or the Kidney Foundation. A funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK, with Father Joseph Strohhofer officiating. Eulogy was shared by Pat Paton. Readers were Kelly Green, Iris Davidson, and Kevin Deaust. Offertory Gifts were carried by Chad Young and Roxane Green Young. Music and Soloist was Leanne Mann. Urn Bearers were grandsons Daniel Green and Matteo Young. Interment of the ashes was at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at www.pichehawkinsgrondinfuneralchapels.ca. Funeral arrangements were trusted to Piché-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
