Paul Matthew Klein, 75, of Lafleche, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with his family by his side.
Paul was a lifelong farmer who found great joy in driving the rural roads of Saskatchewan, checking out crops, and perhaps stopping for a chat. He was resourceful and could fix all sorts of equipment, and no home renovation was too big to tackle. To Paul, nothing was junk—just something waiting to find a new purpose. Paul was known for his gift of gab and appreciated a good debate, so much so that he was often found with his foot in his mouth, enjoying the reactions of those around him. Paul was a passionate Riders fan, though they caused him much anxiety, especially during a losing streak.
Paul had a deep appreciation for family, including his heritage. He could often be found at the rink or ball diamonds cheering on his children (when they were much younger). He loved being a grandfather and cherished the moments he had with his three grandchildren. In the summer, he enjoyed golfing, camping, and fishing with his extended family, though back in his tent trailer days, his children often associated these trips with an extra pit stop due to a flat tire.
Paul was always one to lend a hand to friends and family, and if you needed a favour, he would not hesitate to help.
Believing strongly in the value of community, Paul served on many local boards throughout his life in Lafleche, including the RM of Wood River municipal board, the Thomson Lake Park Board, the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the Lafleche Hospital Board. He was an advocate and founder for bringing producer cars to Lafleche, something he was very proud of.
Paul was the third of seven children born to William and Margaret (Dumelie) Klein and was married to Carol (Studer) for 48 years. He is survived by his son Gord and his wife Dana and their three children, Logan, Maddie, and Katie; his sons Brett and Tyler; his daughters Robin and Kobi; his siblings Dan, Gerry (Viviane), Karen Adams (Neil), and Jo-Anne Rex (Brian); and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Judy, and his brother Michael (Edie).
