Obituary of Marjorie Chorel

Marjorie Rose Chorel of Lafleche, SK passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the age of 77 years. Marjorie was born on the family farm in the McCord District on September 24, 1936, and was the youngest child of Leopold and Katherine (nee Wagner) Schmidt. She attended Bellmuir School in the McCord district for her education. Marjorie met Fernand Chorel and they were married on July 23, 1956. Marjorie and Fernand were blessed with four children, Marvin, Doug, Gloria and Rodney. They lived on the family farm south of Lafleche where they raised cattle, chickens, ducks and turkeys. Marjorie always kept a large garden and especially enjoyed spring thaw. Marjorie and her family went on many camping trips together, and other holidays, which she enjoyed immensely. After Fernand died, Marjorie decided to go on holidays herself and visit a few places she always wanted to see. She went to Niagara Falls and the Maritime Provinces, Branson Missouri and on an Alaskan Cruise. Marjorie loved playing card games, board games and especially marbles. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took advantage of every opportunity that she had to play with them, and treasured those special moments. Above all, Marjorie loved her family and was very proud of them. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and fond memories of her will be cherished always. Marjorie is survived by her loving family, son Marvin (Yvonne) Chorel, granddaughter Jennifer (Tyler) Orten, great grandson Wyatt, grandsons Derek Chorel (Samantha), Dylan Chorel (Cassidy), Kyle Chorel (Danika); son Doug (Jerene) Chorel; daughter Gloria (Ron) Therens, grandson Brandon Therens (Christina), great grandchildren Ryder, Nathan, and Brayden, granddaughter Karli Therens; son Rodney Chorel. She was predeceased by her husband Fernand Chorel (1995); parents Leopold and Katherine Schmidt; brothers John Schmidt, Adam Schmidt, and Pete Schmidt. Funeral service was held on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Wood River Memorial Hall, Lafleche, SK, with Maurice Palmier officiant. The eulogy was shared by Brandon Therens and Jennifer Orten. Urn bearers were Rodney Chorel and Karli Therens.
