Obituary of Erna Woit

Erna Woit of Assiniboia, SK, and formerly Mossbank, SK passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the age of 87 years. Erna was born on the family farm near Mossbank on July 18, 1926, to Emanuel and Maydlene (nee Weiss) Dreger. Erna attended a country school in the Mossbank district. After completing her education she worked for a time at a cookie factory in Winnipeg, MB. Erna married Walter Woit on June 27, 1952, at the Woit family farm. They were blessed with two sons, Gary and Robert. Erna was busy on the farm, helping with chores, keeping a large garden, and also drove school bus for a time. She always enjoyed when company would come to visit, and would often host guests for dinner on Sundays. Erna enjoyed curling and playing bingo with her friends and family. Erna and Walter went on a cruise when they traveled to Florida, vacationed in Hawaii and enjoyed bus trip to California. In 2000 they purchased a home and retired to Mossbank. In 2011, due to failing health, they moved to the Prairie Villa in Assiniboia. Erna is survived by her loving son Gary Woit; sisters Margaret (Ed) Makus, Katy Sazinski, Betty McKchenie, Nel (Ron) Norgen, Dolores Setcher; sister-in-law May Dreger. She is predeceased by her husband Walter Woit (2012); son Robert Woit (1964); parents Emanuel and Maydlene Dreger; sisters Wally (Art) Kiel, Isabel (John) Johnson; brothers Herb Dreger and Rudy Dreger; brothers-in-law Bill Sazinski, Jerry McKchenie and Bob Setcher. A Graveside Service was held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mossbank Cemetery.
