Obituary of Jacob JOHNSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob Arvid Johnson, on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the age of 9 years. Jacob was born in Moose Jaw, SK on June 29, 2005. He was the oldest child of Jason and Rilene (nee Wright) Johnson, and a big brother to Ethan and Peyton. Jacob was content and happy from day one. As a baby, Jacob loved the water and his family enjoyed taking him to go swimming. His first real sentence came out after hunting with his dad for an afternoon, "Big Buck!” he said, with his little hands placed above his head like horns. Jacob had a big heart, and was proud to be a big brother. There aren’t many baby pictures of Ethan without Jacob holding his hand or hugging him, and when Jacob held Peyton for the first time he said, "I feel happy inside.” Jacob loved camping with his brothers, and when the weather became nice he would take out their tent and they would sleep outside. They also spent many hours together building forts, and playing with swords that they made out of sticks. Jacob loved Lego, and was a very creative builder. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, quadding, bike riding, playing soccer and swimming. There was no sand hill too tall for him to climb, and no tree limb he didn’t want to conquer. Jacob spent a lot of time hunting, especially mice, sparrows, black birds and mourning doves, and loved catching salamanders. Jacob enjoyed collecting snake skins and tails, hawk feet, porcupine quills, rocks, and various pieces of wood. He also loved grasshoppers, and would fill his pockets with them to bring home and add to his cardboard grasshopper house. He hunted muskrats, porcupines, caught rabbits, and collected every sort of bug he could find. He also loved fishing, and even hunted alligator when on vacation in Florida. Jacob spent a lot of time farming, which he loved, and was proud to know how to drive the grain cart. His favorite moments were being able to spend time with his family and friends, doing the things that he loved. He especially enjoyed having sleepovers with his grandparents, and wrestling with his cousins. At the age of 6 Jacob made one of the most important decisions of his life. While at the Kedleston Gospel Camp, Jacob decided that he needed Jesus to be his best friend, and from that moment on Jacob tried to live how Jesus would have wanted, and to show everyone through his actions that Jesus is real. Jacob was a beautiful, loving, and caring boy who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jacob is cherished by his parents Jason and Rilene (nee Wright) Johnson; brother Ethan Johnson; brother Peyton Johnson; paternal grandparents Kelly and Carol Johnson; maternal grandparents Murray and Teena Wright; aunt Wendy (uncle Ryan) Schaffer, cousins Keegan and Austin; aunt Richelle (uncle Chris) Anderson, cousins Carter and Myah; uncle Ryan Wright, cousins Kayden, Olivia, Kai and Gracie; uncle Ryley (aunt Amanda) Wright; great grandparents, great uncles & aunts, cousins and friends. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., at the Alliance Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Pastor Dan Godard officiant. The eulogy was shared by Kelly Johnson and Teena Wright. Pallbearers were Matthew Johnson, Carter Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Leighton Johnson, Caleb Johnson and Aaron Guenther. Jacob was laid to rest at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Jacob may be made to the Kedleston Gospel Camp, c/o 808 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, SK S4V 0K6.
