Obituary of Genny HANNAH

Genevieve Yvette Hannah of Mankota, SK passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the age of 61 years. Genny was born in Gravelbourg, SK on January 22, 1953, and was the eleventh of twelve children born to Joseph and Rose Morin. She was raised in Ferland, SK and began her schooling at Ecole de Ferland. She graduated from high school at St. Angela’s Academy in Prelate, SK. During her youth, and later as an adult, Genny enjoyed working in the Morin family business. Genny married Vince Hannah on December 29, 1971, and they made their home in Mankota. Genny and Vince enjoyed traveling and hunting during their early years together. As their family grew, Genny enjoyed spending summers camping at the lake, and later at the family cottage, with her children, extended family and friends. During her mid thirties, Genny took courses to pursue her passion of teaching. She taught Kindergarten at Ecole de Ferland, and later at Ecole Boreale in Ponteix. Teaching children brought her great joy and happiness. Genny was very creative and talented; she was a craft enthusiast and created many wreaths and arrangements, which were displayed at the Country Corral and at local craft shows. Genny also created a memory album for each of her children, and in recent years she gained an interest in quilting and made meaningful gifts for her grandchildren. Genny was a strong woman, and had an amazing sense of humour. She was a welcoming person, and a confidant to many. She valued the importance of family, faith, hard work, kindness, tolerance, generosity, forgiveness and love. Genny worked hard to instil these values in her children, and had an unwavering support for them in all that they pursued. Genny looked forward to the holidays throughout the year, and enjoyed good food, good company, and the joy of her family being together. Genny had a strong faith in God, and was a beautiful and loving wife and mother, who was loved very much by her family. She will be dearly missed. Genny is survived by her husband of 43 years Vince Hannah; son Shaun (Amy) Hannah, grandchildren Emma and Owen; daughter-in-law Kelly Hannah, grandchildren Mattison and Cordell; daughter Jill (Dave) Tanner, grandchildren Sam, Jaden and Kendall; daughter Pam (Matt) Billinghurst, grandchildren Sophie and Caleb; daughter Rae Hannah (Joe Corcoran); brothers Jean-Louis (Louise) Morin, Leopold (Bernie) Morin; sisters Juliette (Leon) Chabot, Alice (Lionel) Lemire, Madeleine (Roch) St. Jacques, Marguerite (Darcy) Zerr; brothers-in-law Maurice Lemire, Fernand Fortin. Predeceased by her son Kim Hannah (2011); son Gene Hannah (2009); parents Joseph and Rose (nee Voyer) Morin; brothers Joe (Denise) Morin, Fernand (Cecile) Morin; sisters Lucille Fortin, Marie (George) Schmunk, Noella Lemire. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Albert Roman Catholic Church, Mankota, SK, with Father Hope Klutsey celebrant. The eulogy was shared by Jill Tanner, Pam Billinghurst and Rae Hannah. Active pallbearers were Leo Schmunk, Shaun Hannah, Dave Tanner, Sam Tanner, Matt Billinghurst and Joe Corcoran.
