Obituary of Thomas Tendler

Thomas David Tendler of Viceroy, SK, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the age of 50 years. Tom was born June 19, 1964 in Bengough, SK, and was the youngest of four children born to Ed and Joyce Tendler. He grew up on the family farm north of Viceroy with his sister, Sharon and two brothers, Ron and Kevin. He attended Viceroy Public School and Assiniboia High School. It was there that Tom met his high school sweetheart, Debora Ann Connors. Tom and Debbie were married October 4, 1986. They have been together for 34 years. In 1984, Tom and Debbie moved to Saskatoon where Tom worked at Tri-Star selling vacuum cleaners. In 1985, Tom and Debbie moved to Gravelbourg and Tom worked with Debbie's dad, Albert, at the Esso. Tom and Debbie moved to Viceroy in 1986, and Tom farmed with his dad and brother Kevin. On March 19, 1986, Tom and Debbie welcomed a tiny baby girl, Jasmine Joyce Marie to the family. On February 25, 1988 they had a son, Joshua James Edward. Tom was very proud of family. He was proud of Jasmine’s successful career as a hair dresser, owning her own salon, and being a wonderful mother to her son. He was proud of Josh for receiving his electrician papers, and so proud to be a part of Josh’s wedding this past summer. Tom especially adored his one and only grandson, Havyn. Tom enjoyed cheering him on at his hockey games, ski-dooing with him, and fishing. He was especially excited to be there when Havyn caught his first fish, and had to fillet it after dark because Havyn wanted to show it off to everyone. Tom loved animals and on the farm they raised cattle and had many dogs and cats over the years. Dogs had a special place in Tom's heart, especially Luger and Zach. Tom loved playing and watching hockey, ball, and broom ball, and coaching Josh's hockey team. He also liked to go hunting with his brother and play darts. Tom, with your kind heart and twinkling brown eyes, you are gone too soon at 50 years old. You leave behind so many family and friends. You were a good man, and are loved more than you'll ever know. You will forever be remembered in our hearts. Tom is survived by his wife Debbie Tendler; daughter Jasmine (Julian) Chevrier, grandson Havyn; son Josh (Theresa) Tendler; sister Sharon (Edward) McCann, their children Ryan, Krisa, Jill; brother Ronald (Carrie) Tendler, their children Kyle, Dylan, Riley; brother Kevin (Lynn) Tendler, their children Jereme, Jade; father and mother-in-law Al and Mary Connors. Predeceased by his parents Ed (2000) and Joyce (1999) Tendler; niece Brandee McCann (1977). Funeral Service was held on Satuday, December 6, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK, with Father Joy Montiague officiant. The eulogy was shared by Sharon McCann and Ed McCann. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Alm, Brad Booth, Kim Dahlman, Quentin Warken, Chad Odsen, David Fohr and George Struble. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Memorial donations in memory of Tom to the Canadian Diabetes Association of Saskatchewan, 917 Albert St., Regina, SK S4R 2P6, were greatly appreciated.
