Obituary of Aime Bouvier
Aimé Rosaire Bouvier of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the age of 81 years. Aimé was born on October 24, 1933, in Meyronne, SK. He was the sixth child of Paul and Alma (nee Lacroix) Bouvier. Aimé was raised on a farm eight miles northwest of Meyronne, SK. He attended Vindictive country school near the Bouvier homestead. Later, he was enrolled as a boarder at the Oblate Sisters’ Kindergarten in Gravelbourg. Aimé completed his high school education at College Mathieu in Gravelbourg. While working in Gravelbourg, Aimé met Annette Gauthier, and they were married on December 28, 1954. For many years, Aimé worked as a mechanic and salesman at Laflamme Equipment, the local International Harvester dealership. Aimé was a member of the fire department for twenty five years, and was the fire chief for ten years. Aimé was town alderman from 1978 to 1982, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Gravelbourg Credit Union board of directions, the Celebrations Committee, and the Gravelbourg Curling Club. In 1959, Aimé and Annette bought a lot at Gaumond Bay on the shores of Thomson Lake, where they built a small cabin. Five years later, they built a new home at 218 4th Ave. E. in Gravelbourg. In 1967, Aimé and Annette purchased the Star Variety Store. They renamed the business "A & A Fashions,” and became a well known landmark in Gravelbourg for 30 years. In 1972, Aimé purchased Rudolphe Gauthier’s farm, and in 1995 purchased the Auguste Larochelle farm northwest of Gravelbourg. This purchase included many antiques, including a 1918 Maxwell automobile and a 1950 Cockshutt Model 40 tractor. Aimé was an avid antique collector and both were restored to their original condition. Aimé and Annette enjoyed yearly winter holidays, and made many friends in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Aimé cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends, and fond memories of their time together will be remembered always.
