Obituary of Elaine Colliness

Margaret Elaine Colliness passed away at the age of 82 surrounded by her family in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Gravelbourg on February 22, 2015. After fracturing her back in a fall in January the pain proved too much to bear. Elaine was born in Gravelbourg on September 23, 1932 to Orin and Sarah Glebe. She was raised on the farm near Bateman. She attended school at Rouen School and Bateman School. Following her schooling she went to Normal school to become a teacher. Elaine taught school in St. Boswells, Arbuthnot and Kincaid. In Kincaid she met and married Allan Colliness, a returning WWII vet. Elaine became a homemaker and a mother of 3 children. She always had fresh buns, cookies and desserts when the kids returned from school. They still called home for their favorite recipes. Elaine always made sure the family went on a summer camping trip in July. They enjoyed many adventures to Cypress, B.C., Ontario, the Black Hills and Minnesota, often with Uncles, Aunts and cousins. They made many lasting memories. Elaine and Allan enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and were fortunate to travel to England to attend an Air Force Reunion and Scotland to meet her mom’s family. Elaine was often a volunteer and club member. She was a member of the U.C.W., Kincaid Book Circle, and the Lioness Club. She received an award of recognition for her work on the Sight and Service Committee of the Lions Club. She was treasurer of the Legion Club and also treasurer of the Club 50 until her move to the Wheatland Lodge in Lafleche in 2013. Elaine also spent some time in the Mankota Health Center which she really enjoyed. Elaine loved to be with people and so was often found having coffee with her friends. She enjoyed playing cards – rummy in Hazenmore and canasta at the Club 50. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Allan in 2000, her parents Orin and Sarah Glebe and bother Marvin Glebe. Elaine is survived by her daughter Janet & husband Tom McCrea & children Morgan, Justin, Callie & Shanna (Kole) & great grandchild Kenedy. And by her son Danny & children Raela, Jud, Cord & Jesa. And by her daughter Karen & children Josh, Jared & Kiana. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at the Glencaid United Church, Kincaid, SK. Family Interment will take place at the Kincaid Cemetery, followed by a time of lunch and fellowship at the Kincaid Legion Hall. Donations in Elaine’s memory can be made to Kincaid Club 50 or Pinto Creek Legion #224.
