Obituary of Jeff Schafer

Jeff Schafer of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the age of 59 years. Jeff was born on March 28, 1956, in Moose Jaw, SK. Jeff took joy from the simple things that life had to offer. He loved spending time in his garden, listening to great music, and enjoying a very stiff paralyzer. Jeff never took for granted the pleasures in life, such as going to the zoo, a walk through the park, or a day at a museum. He did however get annoyed by people who had no idea how to drive, re-runs of his favorite TV shows, and customers ordering breakfast after 11:00 a.m., and he would always creatively articulate how he felt. The Gravelbourg Hornet’s hockey team was very important to Jeff. He loved being able to coach alongside his best friend and being out with the team. Jeff was a loving husband, father and friend. He was known for the many nicknames he gave his friends, his laugh, and the many unbelievable stories that he told. Jeff is survived by his loving wife Paulette; daughter Kyla; daughter Jenn; son Jeremy; brother Clint. Predeceased by his mother Beryl; brother Calvin. United Church Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK. Officiant was Reverend Linda Tomlinson-Seebach. Special memories and a picture tribute were shared by Jenn and Kyla. Honorary pallbearers were Devin Loeffler, Lonnie Anderson, Pete LaRochelle, P.K., and Clint Schafer. Urn bearer was Rick Drake. Honour guard was formed by the Gravelbourg Hornets Hockey Team. Memorial donations in memory of Jeff to the Gravelbourg Hornets Hockey Club, Box 991, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0 were greatly appreciated.
