Obituary of Glen Smith

Glen Campbell Smith of Coderre, SK, passed away suddenly on May 5, 2015, at the age of 46 years. Glen was born on July 20, 1968, in Gravelbourg, SK. He was the only child of Campbell and Mearl (nee Maloney) Smith. Glen grew up on the original Smith homestead, just north of Shamrock Park. He attended Coderre school, and following graduation took a business administration course at S.T.I. in Moose Jaw. During his high school years, Glen was involved in the Coderre 4-H Club, and was a member of the beef, outdoorsmen, photography, and woodworking groups. He also played hockey, volleyball, badminton, and slo-pitch. In February of 1989, Glen moved to Regina where he worked for Brigdens Printers as an Account Representative for Special Projects. In the fall of 1991, Glen went back to university and graduated in the winter of 1992. Glen moved back to Coderre, where he farmed. Glen was blessed with one son, Tyson, who he treasured. Glen and Tyson spent many hours farming together. In the winter Glen enjoyed traveling to coach Tyson’s hockey. Glen was a genuinely kind person, and was always smiling. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Glen is survived by his son Tyson Smith; parents Campbell and Mearl (nee Maloney) Smith; fiancé Shauna Duzan, her daughter Shayna Duzan, and her parents Barrie and Marlene Erskine. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Coderre, SK, with Reverend Linda Tomlinson-Seebach officiant. The eulogy was shared by Scott Binner. Reader was Lisa Hemrica. Active pallbearers were Frank Gaucher, Darryl Neubeker, Dean Wilson, Darcy Dorais, Josh Wiens and Todd Binner. Honour guard was formed by the Gravelbourg Stars. Interment took place at the Grace United Church Cemetery, Coderre. Memorial donations in memory of Glen to the Shamrock Regional Park and Gravelbourg Minor Hockey were greatly appreciated.
