Obituary of Raymond Connors

Raymond Albert Connors of Assiniboia, SK passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Ray was born on August 6, 1925, in Palmer, SK. He was the youngest of seven children born to Peter and Gertrude (nee Cook) Connors. Ray lived in Palmer for most of his life, and moved to Assiniboia in the mid 1990s. Ray married Wanda Wynia in 1949 and they had three children, Laverne, Randy and Tim. Ray and Wanda’s home was always open to family and friends, and they enjoyed visiting while playing a game of pinochle or cribbage. Throughout his lifetime Ray was a farmer, grain agent, bus driver, post master, garage owner, and a mayor. He was involved in sports and enjoyed both playing and coaching. Ray had a strong faith. Ray was a man of much wisdom, an infamous storyteller, his affections were far spread, and he touched many lives. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Ray is survived by his son Tim (Laurie) Connors, grandson Ryan (Jesse), great granddaughter Mischa, grandson Jordan (Heather), great granddaughter Stevie; sisters-in-law Mary Connors, Simone Connors, Rae Connors. Predeceased by his wife Wanda (nee Wynia ) Connors; infant daughter Laverne and son Randy; siblings Joseph (Annette) Connors, Clarence Connors, May ( Bus) Connors, Thomas Connors, Hilda (Stan) Bonnett, Charles Connors. Prayers were held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., both at St. George Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Celebrant was Father Joy Montiague. The eulogy was shared by Sheila Larochelle. Active pallbearers were Calvin Connors, Robert Connors, Patrick Connors, Les Bonnett, Ken Bonnett and Dale Crosson. Interment took place at Geneva Cemetery, Palmer, SK. Memorial donations in memory of Ray to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1-345 3rd Ave. S., Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6, were greatly appreciated.
