Obituary of Ernetta Seebach

Ernetta Seebach of Assiniboia, SK and formerly Lafleche, SK passed away on July 3, 2015, at the age of 91 years. Ernetta was born on December 24, 1923, in Remer, Minnesota. She was the second child of six born to Chancey and Anna (nee Atkinson) Carpenter. Ernetta’s family moved to Saskatchewan when she was a young child, living in Parkbeg and Meeting Lake before settling on a farm north of Rabbit Lake. When Ernetta was twenty years old she answered an advertisement in the Western Producer to work as a caregiver at Lafleche, SK for Michael Seebach’s mother. Ernetta and Michael were married on October 1, 1943, in Moose Jaw, SK, and they were blessed with seven children. Ernetta and Michael made their first home on the Seebach farm. In 1952 they moved into Lafleche and in 1980 they moved to Melaval. Ernetta was a homemaker for many years until she began working as a cook at St. Joseph Hospital in Gravelbourg, SK. Ernetta was a very hard and dedicated worker, and was known for making the best soup. She continued to work at the hospital until her retirement. Ernetta enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Vancouver, Minnesota, Michigan and Ontario, and in the summer months she loved to visit her family at Carrot River, Rabbit Lake, Marengo and Cadillac. Ernetta enjoyed attending rodeos, especially the one held at Wood Mountain, and the Regina Exhibition where she liked to watch the fashion shows. Ernetta loved watching TV, especially Wheel of Fortune, the news, and sports. She also liked to play cards, and her favorite game was 31. In 1994 Ernetta and Michael retired to Assiniboia. Ernetta attended St. Paul’s United Church and made many new friends in town through the church. Her faith was very important to her. Ernetta kept busy babysitting many children, including her grandchildren. Ernetta moved to the Lafleche Health Centre and then Ross-Payant Centennial Nursing Home before making her final move to the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility in 2010.
