Obituary of Christina Singbeil

It is with great sadness that the family of Christina Sandra Singbeil announce her tragic passing on July 20, 2015, at the age of 38 years. Christina was born on July 11, 1977, at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw. She was the first of three children born to Rick and Sandra (nee Stark) Voisin. She easily won the hearts of her entire family with her ready smile. Christina enjoyed living in Mossbank for the early years of her life. From an early age, Christina’s faith became very important to her. She loved to read and the Bible became Christina’s major life guide book and love letter. She read it often and studied it extensively, while keeping daily prayer and thought journals. Christina excelled at school, and during her 9th Grade she starting seeing Donald Singbeil as someone special. She even talked Don into being her Raggedy Andy to compliment her Raggedy Anne costume for the Halloween Carnival. Don and Christina did almost everything together and continued to be a compliment to each other. During her first summer in High School, Christina helped out at the Sylvester’s Christian Cowboy Ranch and Camp. There, she learned and grew in her faith, which Don shared. During the summer between Grade 11 and 12, Don and Christina took a break, but by the end of the year they were back together and more certain than ever that they were made for each other. Christina took four years of Kinesiology at the University of Regina on a full scholarship and convocated with her bachelor degree, while also wearing an engagement ring from Don. They were married at the Lutheran Church in Mossbank on January 2, 1999. Their first home together was a basement suite on South Hill in Moose Jaw. In the spring they began restoring their present home on the previous Woit farm yard. They moved to the farm in the spring of 1999, so they could share their joint love of farming and be closer to the beauty of God’s creation. Dean Edward Singbeil was born into the family in August 2000. Christina and Don were so proud of him, and Christina was a loving mother. While being an excellent wife and mother, Christina also began to work evenings getting a Youth Centre established in Mossbank. Through that, she became fast friends with many of the youth in the Mossbank area. In September 2005 Derek Don Singbeil was born to complete Christina and Don’s family. Having these two boys became Christina’s proudest and greatest achievement. Christina became involved in a Home Bible Study Group and was a board member and chairperson at Glad Tidings Bible Camp. She taught Sunday School and assisted with the Club Program at her church, while also playing the piano for worship. She shared her love of music, and especially for playing and singing hymns, with her mother Sandra and Grandma Edna. Christina and Don were busy parents and could be seen at all the hockey rinks, school gyms and ball diamonds around. They supported their boys’ interests in sports and cheered them on in all their games. Christina, Don, Dean and Derek enjoyed many memory-making family times together; vacations, sporting events, movies and camping with friends. Christina developed friendships with people far and wide, and she had the ability to make each person feel special because she believed each one truly was. When Christina followed in her mother’s footsteps and took on the role of school librarian, her love of reading and educating took on a new dimension. At the school she became an encourager to kids and staff and she loved working in the school that her own children attended. This winter, Christina added to her many and varied roles by taking on the task of accounting for two of the Singbeil family farms. Her organization skills and quick intelligence were always appreciated. She added her gentle support to help everyone understand and work through the varied personalities that make family farming such a great opportunity, but also a great challenge. Over the years, Christina developed a love for the challenge of long distance running. She trained on a personal level by running miles on the grid roads and highways. Her last run was at Fort Walsh, SK, where she won third place in the 5K run. Her next challenge was to be a two day, 145K cycling marathon this August to raise funds for MS. Christina’s goal was to always go the distance and she did that in everything. Christina fought the good fight and finished the race. She has kept the faith and now passes the baton on. She will be standing at the finish line, cheering on her beloved family and friends, and looking forward to being reunited someday. Christina will be dearly missed, and will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. Christina is survived by her loving husband Don Singbeil; son Dean Singbeil; son Derek Singbeil; parents Richard and Sandra (nee Stark) Voisin; brother Scott (Julie) Voisin, nephew Kyle, niece Jessica; brother Allan (Morgan) Voisin, niece Emily; grandparents Norman and Edna Stark, Donna Voisin; father and mother-in-law Larry and Beverly (nee Shoemaker) Singbeil; sister-in-law Rayleen Singbeil, niece Tianna, nephew Isaiah; brother-in-law Jeremy Singbeil (Kathy Volkeman), nieces Laurel and Hayley; grandmother-in-law Doreen Singbeil.
