Obituary of Andre Brodeur

André Joseph Laurent Brodeur of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the age of 86 years. André was born on March 14, 1929, in Domremy, SK, to Joseph and Antoinette (nee Dupas) Brodeur. André attended the Domremy school, the college in Gravelbourg and St. Boniface College. In his youth, he was a cadet, enjoyed several sports, music and drama. He was also a life long member of the Knights of Columbus. As a young man he began working in Prince Albert. He then moved to Winnipeg, working at Martin paper for a year, before returning to Saskatchewan where he worked as a telegraph operator for Canadian National Railway. This job took André to many different places throughout the province. Wanting to settle in a permanent location André began working at the Kindersley Lumber yard. After a year of hard work he was promoted to a management position and moved to Kerrobert on May 1, 1955. It was on August 20, 1955 that André married Lilliane, and they were blessed with seven children. André was very successful in working with the Co-op, and advancements took him and his growing family to various communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Following a successful management career, André, together with his wife Lilliane, took on a new adventure, buying their own store in Lafleche, which they ran for eight years. André was an extremely hard worker and took pride in all that he did. André and Lilliane retired to Moose Jaw, and Lilliane passed away in 1995. André married Eréne Corcoran on August 31, 1996 and they shared 18 wonderful years together. They enjoyed bowling and traveling together, and spending time with family. André loved camping and fishing and his favorite activity was singing. André shared his beautiful tenor voice at many weddings, funerals, house parties and dances. His wonderful smile, as well as his sense of humor, positive attitude, and loving caring demeanor will be missed by all. André is survived by his loving family, wife Eréne Corcoran; son Alan Brodeur (Glenda Jenett); daughter Claire Hawkins; son Denis Brodeur (Jean-Guy Picard); son Donald (Lucie) Brodeur; daughter Carmen (Peter) Court; son Michael (Hélène)Brodeur; son Raymond (Krista) Brodeur; son Brian, Corcoran (Edna Lacasse-Corcoran); son Gary (Kathy) Corcoran; daughter Carmela Miller; daughter Rosalie LaRose; grandchildren Jeffrey (Samantha), Deanna (Justin), Penny (David), John-Paul (Alison), Michelle (Chase), Lynnzi (Derek),Raeanne (Matt), Christian, Ghislain (Rosy), Alain (Mélanie),Paul (Beatrice), Lise (Trevor), Gilles (Chantelle), Devan (Leah), Candace (Duane), Caleb, Sherry (Aaron), Sheila, Melanie (Alain), Christianne (Jeff), Alexie (Caley), Colleen (Dan), Kailey, Camara (Austin), Keaton, Ashley, Allyssa, Jamie, Amanda; great grandchildren Jordan, Jacob, Kieran, Paige, Dakota, Ethan, Rowan, Madden, Jonathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Dominic, Naomie, Océane, Alice, Matthew, Sophia, Miranda, Alyza, Darla, Kameron, Logan, Addisson, Victoria, Charlize, Dominique, Catherine; sister Thérese Gorieu; sisters-in-law June Brodeur, Isabelle Brodeur; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Lilliane Brodeur (1995); sons-in-law John Hawkins, Blaine Miller; parents Joseph and Antoinette Brodeur; brothers Léo, Rupert, Alain, René; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw, SK, with Father Rick Krofchek celebrant. Interment took place at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of André to the CNIB, (Canadian National Institute for the Blind), 2550 Broad St., Regina, SK S4P 3Z4, were greatly appreciated.
