Obituary of Noella LALONDE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Noella Marie (Balaux) Lalonde in Assiniboia, SK on May 31, 2013, at age 83. Noella was born on August 11, 1929 in Willow Bunch, SK. Noella was raised on a farm, one mile south of Willow Bunch, which is part of the golf course today. Noella was the fifth child of thirteen children born to Louis and Rose-Anna Balaux. On October 22, 1947 Noella married Philippe Lalonde. They moved to the Lalonde farm in St. Victor to start their married life. They had met at a wedding dance; they loved music, dancing, and socializing with friends and family. They were blessed with seven children: Dianne, Doraine, Rita, Wayne, Guy, Les, and Brigitte. Noella was a proud and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother; she was always interested in what was happening in the lives of her family. After Philippe's passing, Noella returned to Willow Bunch from Regina. At the age of 52, she learned to drive, got her driver's license and bought herself a new car. After being a housewife for years, Noella re-entered the work force. Noella was hard working, she cooked for The Sisters of The Cross, was a housekeeper for The Catholic Rectory, worked for Home Care and prepared meals on wheels. She was an excellent seamstress; she sewed many garments for her family and transformed her wedding dress into a First Communion dress for her daughters. Noella was a CWL member, she loved gardening, and she always maintained an immaculate home. She was well known as a great cook and for her fine pieces of crochet work; many family and friends are fortunate to have doilies and other handmade items she created. Noella loved reading, especially biographies, and she had a keen interest in both the Kennedy family and the British Royal family. While she did not travel much, she was very knowledgeable in geography. She had a great interest in the various places her children and grand-children went. Mom will be greatly missed by all of us and we were very blessed to have her all these years. Noella is survived by her loving family, children Dianne (Ed) Philippon, Doraine (Real) Durand, Rita Lesperance, Wayne (Florence) Lalonde, Guy (Kathy) Lalonde, Les, Brigitte, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, siblings, numerous nieces and nephews. Noella was predeceased by her husband Philippe (1980), son- in-law Claude Lesperance (2007), Brigitte's twin (birth). Prayer service was held on June 3, 2013 and Funeral Service was celebrated on June 4, 2013, both at St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church, Willow Bunch, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. Lighting of paschal candle, daughter Dianne Philippon. Active pallbearers were grandsons, Marc Durand, Kevin Fleury, Tyson Lalonde, Jeff Philippon, nephews, Marc Gosselin, Fernie Lalonde, and Paul Lesperance. Readers were granddaughter Jacqueline Tuffs, son-in-law Ed Philippon. Offerings presented by granddaughters, Jennifer Lesperance, Jill Lesperance, Kristy Lalonde, Jolinne Durand, Ella Durand-Pratt. Music, Gerald Rondeau. Eulogists were granddaughter Erin Bokshowan, daughter-in-law Kathy Lalonde. Internment followed at the St. Victor Cemetery. In Noella's memory masses or donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
