Obituary of George Corcoran

George Michael Corcoran of Kincaid, SK, passed away at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon SK, on October 23, 2015, at the age of 84 years. He was the 6th child of Patrick and Louise Corcoran. He was born on September 24, 1931 on the family farm in the Kincaid district. As a young boy, George enjoyed making sling shots, lariats and trying new methods to drown gophers. He went to school at Bona Place School until grade eight and then went to work. For spending money, he trapped animals and lit the furnace at school. George broke horses to plow his father’s land, wired houses, poured cement and laid sidewalk, milked cows and shipped cream to pay the grocery bill. In 1949, he went to Ontario to work in the gold mines, returning home in 1950, to put the crop in on his Dad’s farm. In 1951, he went to Toronto and took a welding course and found employment as a welder. In 1953, he married Julia Landry and they returned to Meyronne, SK. They were blessed with five children, Dave, Donna, Mike, Barb and Patrick. George drove school bus, worked in various garages and went to tech school and earned his mechanic papers. In 1955, the family moved to Kincaid and he purchased Fred Carlson Parts and Equipment in the Purity 99 Service Station. In 1966, George closed the business and moved his family to the farm. In 1994, George survived a terrible accident, losing his left hand. George had to rent his land, but was still able to care for his cattle. In 2009, he moved into Kincaid and became the owner of the Car Wash and Trinity Bar and Café. George had a strong faith and believed in treating people the way he would want to be treated. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community. He is survived by his son Dave (Dorrie) Corcoran ,grandson Ryan (Sherease), children Tasia, Citra, Jixxr, granddaughter Mandy (T.J.); daughter Donna (Pat) Gilham, granddaughter Danielle (Sebastien), children Theresa, Lex, Callie, grandson Michael (Kim), granddaughter Chelsea (Paul), granddaughter Kaley, grandson Zachary, grandson Jonah, grandson Christopher; daughter Barb (David) Stabbler, grandson Corey, granddaughter Samantha (Nick), grandson Lucas (Amy), children Elyse and Natalie, grandson Jacob, grandson Riley (Leah); son Patrick Corcoran, grandson Chance; brothers Joe Corcoran, Allan Corcoran and sister Sr. Ellen Corcoran. Predeceased by his son Michael (1977); great grandson William (2008); parents Patrick and Louise Corcoran; siblings Theresa Packet, Mary Stuart, Rita Corcoran, George Corcoran, John Corcoran, Patrick Corcoran, Jim Corcoran and Tom Corcoran. Prayers were held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Ste Radegonde Roman Catholic Church in Lafleche, SK, at 7:30 p.m. with Larry Packet presiding. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October, 31, 2015, at Ste Radegonde Roman Catholic Church, with Father Maurice Minne celebrant. Cross Bearer was Bob Corcoran. Altar Server was Theresa Cailliau; Readers were Edna Lacasse-Corcoran and Danielle Cailliau. Intentions were shared by Lex Cailliau. Offertory Gifts were presented by Kaley Gilham, Callie Cailliau and Bob Stuart. Pallbearers were Michael Gilham, Zachary Gilham, Jonah Gilham, Christopher Gilham, Keith Corcoran and Brian Corcoran. Honorary Pallbearers were Allan Corcoran, Sr. Ellen Corcoran and Joe Corcoran. Interment took place at the Meyronne Cemetery. Memorial donations in George’s memory to Ste Radegonde Building Fund, Kincaid & District Community Service Club (Rink) and masses were greatly received.
