Obituary of Rodrigue Taillon

Rodrigue Joseph Taillon of Saskatoon, SK and formerly from Assiniboia, SK, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the age of 91 years, with family at his side. Rod was born on September 17, 1924, in Grayson, SK, to Oscar and Jeanne (nee Cote) Taillon. He attended primary school in Grayson, and then attended College Mathieu in Gravelbourg, SK, where he obtained his B.A. degree in 1946. In the fall he enrolled in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Montreal and graduated in 1950 and then joined the Assiniboia Health Region and for two years served as Public Health Dentist in the Children's Dental Health Program. Rod married Madeleine Deshaye, August 6, 1952. They were blessed with five boys Gerald, Paul, Michel, Marc, and Mario. Rod established his dental practice in Willow Bunch, where he remained until 1955, when he purchased Dr. Richard Brown`s practice and residence in Assiniboia. In 1965, a new office building was built. He practiced here for over forty years until his retirement in 1989. Rod retired in 1990 and Rod and Madeleine moved to Saskatoon in 2008. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kinsmen Club, Assiniboia Recreation Board, Chairman of the Separate School Board, and was in the reserve army while attending College Mathieu. Rod enjoyed curling, golfing, travelling with Madeleine to many different countries and spending time with family at their cottage on Katepwa Lake. He will be dearly missed by his wife Madeleine Taillon of 63 years; son Gerald (Connie) Taillon, granddaughter Christine (Brad) Adams, greatgrandchildren Jasmine and Elijah, granddaughter Anita (Kyle) Broussard, greatgrandchildren Madeleine and Mac, grandson Jean-Paul (Jessie) Taillon, greatgrandchild Brielle, son Paul Taillon, grandson Dominique (Rhonda) Taillon, greatgrandchildren Jonathan and Juliette, granddaughter Nicole Taillon (Derek), grandson Daniel Taillon, son Michel (Monique) Taillon, grandson David (Melanie) Taillon, grandson Marc Taillon, granddaughter Lynne Taillon, son Marc (Marianne) Taillon, grandson Paul (Charlotte) Taillon, greatgrandchildren Julie, Lucie, Geneviève, grandson Stéphane Taillon, grandson Jonas Taillon, grandson Mischa Taillon, son Mario (Lisa) Taillon, grandson Joel Taillon, grandson Justin Taillon, grandson Matthieu Taillon. He is also survived by his sister Eva Blaus and sister-in-law Jeanne D'Arc Deshaye. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, November 2, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. The eulogy was shared by Gerald Taillon. Honour Guard and mass servers were the Knights of Columbus. Readers were Anita Broussard, David Taillon and Paul Taillon. Intentions were read by Nicole Taillon, Joel Taillon, Daniel Taillon, Stéphane Taillon and Christine Adams. Offertory Gifts were presented by Marc Taillon, Lynne Taillon, Jonas Taillon and Matthieu Taillon. Honorary Pallbearers were his five boys. Active Pallbearers were his grandchildren. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK. Memorial donations in Rod's memory were given to the South Country Health Care Foundation, Box 1750, Assiniboia, SK, and masses were greatly received.
