Obituary of Juliette CHEVRIER

Juliette Chevrier of Gravelbourg, Sask. passed away on June 4, 2013 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Sask. at the age of 84. Juliette was the 5th daughter of Henri and Marie Louise Bonneau. Juliette was born in Coderre on November 28, 1928, and raised in Shamrock and Gravelbourg. Juliette attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary. From 1943 while attending school Juliette worked at St. Joseph in Gravelbourg and continued to do so after High School until she married Albert Chevrier in 1948. Juliette was a wonderful housekeeper, maintaining an immaculate home. She was an avid gardener who took pride in her cooking and baking. Juliette worked hard on the farm, driving the grain truck but mostly enjoyed driving the combine. Juliette lived on the farm until they built a house in Gravelbourg in 1995. After Albert's unfortunate accident in 1983, Juliette provided exceptional care for Albert 24 hours a day until his passing away on July 23, 2001. Juliette never once considered placing Albert in a Care Home. She cared for Albert with devotion, love and medical care that equalled the best of nurses. She maintained a strong outlook on life throughout all the challenges to care for Albert. Albert's death left a great void in her life. Juliette became involved in many organizations in Gravelbourg. Such as the CWL, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Associates of Marguerite d'Youville and the KGB (Keep Gravelbourg Beautiful). Juliette was very active in her church. Juliette's son, André opened "Styles" a store which sells everything but the kitchen sink. Juliette was involved in the management and the entire workings of the store. Juliette loved greeting customers and providing excellent service. Juliette had many pastimes she enjoyed such as: paper tole framing, ceramics, needle work, flower arranging and window dressing. Juliette had a green thumb and always enjoyed her well landscaped yard. Juliette enjoyed giving, such as planting flowers in front of the Cathedral as well as donating flowers for church celebrations. She happily helped various charities to help repay good people who helped Juliette during the 18 years she cared for Albert. Juliette was involved in church ministries, such as alter server and communion ministry. Juliette enjoyed card playing, dancing, celebrating birthdays and special occasions. Juliette loved the community of Gravelbourg and always promoted the town, numerous events and always encouraged people to come visit Gravelbourg. Her family always came first, enjoying hosting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Juliette had an extremely strong and positive attitude throughout her fight with cancer. She had a strong will to live, an unwavering faith in Saint Andre. Even in her last months, Juliette spoke to others diagnosed with cancer, encouraging them to stay positive, productive and live each day to the fullest. Juliette always let others know that she would "be just fine” and ensure everyone not to worry. She was always more interested in how others were and what news family and friends had. A couple of days prior to her passing Juliette was planning her vegetable and flower garden. She planned always for the future. She remained independent throughout her life and took pride in caring for her home and garden for everyone to enjoy.
