Obituary of Alma L'Heureux

Our precious Mom (Grandma & GG) was called home on February 22, 2016, to be with her husband Henri L'Heureux and her brothers and sisters: Wilfred, Frank, Eva, Grace, Phyllis and Pat. Mom spent most of her life in Gravelbourg, SK. She was born and raised on a homestead six miles northeast of Gravelbourg and, after she married in 1946, spent more than 67 years in her home, which we lovingly called the Sugar Shack. Our abiding memories of our Mother will be her endless capacity for love, giving, and her outstanding work ethic. Mom was good with people; she enjoyed working at the Five and Dime in the mid 40's, at Terri’s Ladies Wear in the 70's and later The Boutique until her retirement. She was everyone's favorite Avon lady and enjoyed the fellowship of Beta Sigma Phi. Mom was a member of the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan and she spent hours visiting with patients in St. Joseph's Hospital and residents of Foyer d'Youville. Mom loved entertaining, playing cards, and feeding family and friends in her home! Our friends were her friends, generation after generation. Alma will be lovingly remembered by her son Larry (Ev) L’Heureux and daughter Lorraine (Brent) deMontigny Hopfner; grandchildren Kristy Meyer, Roxanne (Brian) L’Heureux, Shawn (Janine) L’Heureux, David (Cindy) deMontigny, Tina (Jay) Vollet, and Paula (Ryan) Howard, sixteen precious great-grandchildren, her sister Hazel Watson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Extendicare Sunset that cared for Mom over the past two years, and the caring staff in Emergency and Unit 4A at Pasqua Hospital. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Ave., Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
