Obituary of Denis Marchand

Denis (Tigin) André Marchand of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on April 17, 2016, at the age of 67. Denis was born on March 23, 1949, in Gravelbourg, to Lucien and Aurore (nee Poirier) Marchand. He attended the Gravelbourg Elementary and High School, and graduated in 1967. Denis then went to the University of Regina from 1968 to 1970, and received his teaching certificate. He began his teaching career in November, 1971 at Hodgeville. Denis taught until 1978, when he began farming in Gravelbourg. Denis married Brenda Wall of Hodgeville on July 9, 1977, and they were blessed with three daughters. He encouraged his children to explore, take chances, to have fun, and taught them many life lessons. His daughters loved visiting him at the farm in the summer, and were proud of all the hard work Denis put in to his farm and yard. Denis was a great man; he had a kind soul and was a loving father and papère. Denis is survived by his loving family, daughter Angèle (Sylvain), grandchildren Gabrielle and Kallie; daughter Celeste (Maxime), granddaughter Léa; daughter Jamie-Lee (Scott), grandchildren Hailey and Jackson; brothers Louis, Raymond, Fred (Dolores), Jean-Guy (Karen); sisters Diane (Peter) Koperdan, Gilberte aka Tibet (Norman) Blais, Claudette (Al) Brown; best friend Babba. Predeceased by his parents Lucien and Aurore Marchand; sister-in-law Olga Marchand. Family funeral service was held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Gravelbourg, SK. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Denis to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, for SPCA, Box 1658 Stn Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7, are greatly appreciated.
