Obituary of Laura Heidt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Laura Heidt (nee Patoine) at the age of 85 years on June 10, 2016. Laura was born June 7, 1931 in the Ferland/Mankota district. She is preceded by her husband of 65 years, Valentine, son Larry, brother Ernest Patoine, as well as her parents, William and Marie-Louise (nee Mongeon) Patoine. She is mourned by her children: Bruce, Rene (Nina), Cecile (Mario), Albert, Bernice and Rob as well as her daughter-in-law Bonnie (Gorski), sister Albina Parks, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Laura will always be remembered for her kind heart, her home cooked meals, and her open door to family and friends. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Laura cherished home and family life and took great pride in being a mother and homemaker. Home was the centre of Laura’s world and nothing took precedence over her family and home. Her favourite past time activities included baking, sewing, and playing cards or marbles. Family and friends will always remember Laura as a helpful, hardworking, loving and proud woman. God our Father, we ask You to receive your faithful servant, Laura, into Your loving arms. In death, as in life, Laura will always serve as a source of strength, support and role model to her family. She will always be loved dearly and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, Mom, you will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverbend Crossing Memory Care for their wonderful care extended to our Mother while under their care and during her final days. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 1:00 pm, at St. Albert Roman Catholic Church, Mankota, SK. Celebrant was Father Joe Strohhofer. The eulogy was shared by Rob Heidt.
