Obituary of Marg Ellis

Margaret Ethel Ellis of Lafleche, SK passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the age of 74 years. Marg was born on July 15, 1942, in Lafleche, to Edward and Emma (nee Hathaway) Bacheldor. Unfortunately, her mother passed away a few hours after Marg was born. She was cared for by Harry and Elizabeth Little of Meyronne until her father married Lula Price in December 1944. She then moved with them to the Sister Butte district south of Fir Mountain. In 1948, a new house was built in town so that Marg didn't have to travel each day to school. The family would move back to the farm for July and August until Lula's health began to fail. Marg attended school in Fir Mountain until it's closure, Glentworth, and graduated in Assiniboia. She then went to Moose Jaw to study nursing. Marg met her husband and soul mate, Aubrey Ellis, at a dance in Fir Mountain when they were both seventeen. Three years later, on July 14, 1962, they were married in the Fir Mountain United Church. They began their life together in Fir Mountain, and in December 1964 bought their current home south of Lafleche. Marg and Aubrey were blessed with four children, Blaine, Lorilee, Boyd, and Lisa. They enjoyed the rural life, raising their family on the farm, and in later years when their grandchildren would come to visit. Family and friends were important to Marg, and she kept relationships strong by hosting both large and small gatherings on a regular basis. Marg was an exceptional hostess and showed her love in food. She always knew everyone's favourite meals and treats, and she never let you bring anything to a meal. She loved to travel to visit friends and family, and to attend the grandchildren's activities. Marg was an affectionate person and loved to give a hug and kiss to her family, whether you wanted one or not! She was a giggler and found humour in most things; she always enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. Although there were many sorrows in Marg's life, she spread joy. She was always positive and cared for others. She took pride in her work with homecare, and would take the time to say hi and make you feel special. Marg truly was the perfect Nana to her grandchildren. She would bake fresh buns for their visits, giggle at all of their jokes, travel to watch their games, make their favourite treats, was always up for a game, would organize a grandkid camping trip every year, and always tell her grandchildren how much she loved them. Marg will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and they will continue to honour her life by living, laughing, and loving. Marg is survived by her loving family husband Aubrey Ellis; son Blaine (Carmen) Ellis; son Boyd (Jackie) Ellis, grandchildren Jamie, Garrett, Zachary; daughter Lisa (Ron) O’Neill, grandchildren Hailey, Jenna, Rhys; brothers-in-law Lorne Ellis, Dale Allingham; sisters-in-law Audrey (John) Marcenko; Audrey Paul (Bob Watterson); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by her daughter Lorilee Ellis (1998); grandson Robert Ellis (2001); mother Emma Bacheldor (nee Hathaway); father Edward Bacheldor; step mother Lula Price (nee Arnold); brothers Wilfred Bacheldor, Sidney Bacheldor; father-in-law Aubrey Benjamin Ellis; mother-in-law Barbara Ellis (nee Grant); sisters-in-law Carol Ellis, Margaret Allingham. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the Wood River Memorial Hall, Lafleche, SK. Officiant was Pastor Neil Gilbert. The eulogy was shared by Wendy Allingham. Urn bearers were Marg's grandchildren. A poem was ready by Thelma Poirier. Special music shared by Barb Kallay and Jeneva Allingham. Honourary Pallbearers were all those who shared in Marg’s life. Ushers were Randy Ellis, Morley Ellis, Corey Ellis, and Tracy Hodges. Interment took place at the Lafleche Municipal Cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Marg to the Huntington Society of Canada for Research, 151 Fredrick St., Suite 400, Kitchener, ON N2H 2M2, were greatly appreciated.
