Obituary of Betty Mildred Lefebvre

On October 8, 2016, Betty Lefebvre, long time resident of Gravelbourg, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, Sask. at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her parents David and Elsie (Harris) Calvin; her loving husband of 64 years, Jean-Louis Lefebvre; one brother, John Calvin; three sons-in-law, Vern Haugen, John Fouquet, and Joe Fiore; as well as one sister-in-law, Lola Calvin. Betty leaves to mourn, her seven children: Jeffrey (Vi) Lefebvre, Edmonton, Alta.; Mildred (Claude) Nobert, Penticton, B.C.; Helen Fouquet, Kelowna, B.C.; Rosemary Fiore, Regina; Robert (Irene) Lefebvre, Gravelbourg; Ruth (Ron) Dupont, Wynyard; Rita (Gary) Weist of Regina; Ron (Diane) Lefebvre; 24 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren; two brothers, George Calvin, New Norway, David (Vivianne) Calvin, Kincaid; one sister-in-law, Esther Calvin, Mankota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was born to David and Elsie (Harris) Calvin on June 19, 1921 in Hazenmore, Sask. She married the love of her life, Jean-Louis Lefebvre on November 16, 1940 in Gravelbourg, Sask. They started out their journey together on the farm where Betty was his working partner helping in the field and all the work associated with farming including gardening, milking cows, raising chickens, cows and pigs. In 1947, after the birth of their first 4 children, they moved to the town of Gravelbourg and lived in the little house on 1st Avenue. Betty was a very hard working homemaker and did all her canning, baking, and household duties of raising the family. She mastered the art of perfecting her cinnamon buns which were unmatched by anyone. She loved being outdoors and her greatest joy was being with her family. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she was always so happy when they would come and visit. She was a generous and caring person who always helped others out when they needed it or asked for it. She never complained about anything and was always very satisfied with the bare minimum. She loved her weekly outings, gathering with her "coffee friend” ladies and would have many good laughs. In her later years she loved going to concerts whenever she had the chance. She just loved the live musical performances. She left us all with many good memories which we will cherish always. She instilled in us all, the moral values and was a loving inspirational model. We love you so much Mom; you will forever be in our hearts. We would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Foyer d’Youville who took such loving care of our Mom in her time of need. Their exceptional gentle care and compassion is greatly appreciated by the family. A big thank you also to Dr. Coney’s for his dedication in taking care of Mom. A Memorial Service was celebrated on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, Sask. with Father Rick Krofchek celebrant.
