Obituary of Lucille Charlotte Braconnier

Lucille Charlotte Braconnier (nee Remillard) was born on June 6, 1927, in Gravelbourg, SK, to Philippe and Maria Remillard. She talked often of growing up on the farm, and attended school at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Gravelbourg. After graduation Lucille went to Winnipeg for a secretarial course, after which she worked at a bank. Lucille returned to Gravelbourg, where she met Marcel Braconnier. They were married on October 5, 1948, and had six children: Lise passed away in 1956, Yvon passed away when he was only days old, Nicole, Guy, Colin/Chantal, and Monique; their family was complete. They lived in a little stucco house on 4th avenue east until 1961, when they moved to the farm three miles west of town. They celebrated Monique's first birthday in Lucille's new kitchen, having only moved in September. Days were busy for Lucille with four young children and a farm to tend. She also had a huge garden where there was always work to be done, peas to pick, beans to cut, canning, and freezing; the crops were lush and Lucille always kept busy. They were hailed out that year, but Lucille's faith in the Lord is what kept her going. She taught her children about good work ethic and to find love in all you do. They all had jobs on the farm, the boys tended to the pigs and yard work and the girls cared for the chickens and picked eggs. The love Lucille and Marcel had for each other was always displayed openly, and they were fortunate to celebrate 53 years together. As years went by, the children left one by one. In 1989, Lucille and Marcel sold the farm and moved into a new house on 2nd avenue east. They were so happy with their new home, Marcel was close to the KofC Hall and Lucille had a garden and flower beds. So many special gatherings took place there. Lucille and Marcel were fortunate to do a lot of traveling together. They enjoyed going to France to see Lucille's special niece Suzanne and her family, and to Holland to visit friends Willy and Peter. When Marcel passed away on May 17, 2003, the same day as Lise in 1956, Lucille was lost. She stayed in her home until 2004, when she moved to an apartment at the Villa. Lucille's health started to deteriorate in 2013, and her last years were spent at the Foyer d'Youville. Lucille passed away on October 16, 2016, and has now joined her family in heaven and is at peace with her Lord. Predeceased by her husband Marcel; children Lise, Yvon, and Colin/Chantal; great granddaughter Jaycena; parents Maria and Philippe Remillard; brother Richard; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She leaves to mourn her loving family, daughter Nicole (Dennis) Mann; son Guy (Lise); daughter Monique (Doug) Mann; daughter-in-law Gail; 6 grandchildren Richard (Leanne), Dennis Jr. (Elishia), Melissa (Matt), Bradie (Dustin), Marc and Rachel; 3 great grandchildren D'Arcy, Jordan, and Sawyer; sisters Germaine Cornet, Suzanne Charon; brother-in-law Leo (Madeleine) Braconnier; sisters-in-law Jeanne Braconnier, Doris Bouvier and Marguerite Remillard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
