Obituary of Ema Williams

Ema Mary Williams of Lafleche, SK, and formerly Woodrow, SK, passed away on October 26, 2016, at the age of 84. Ema was born on January 12, 1932, and was the eldest child of Otto and Anna (nee Yost) Tosczak. Ema attended McCarter School north of Woodrow, and completed high school at Woodrow. On October 5, 1951 Ema married Owen Williams and they lived on the Williams farm north of Woodrow. Ema led a very busy and productive life. She was very involved with the farm and the community. She was known for her lovely artwork, and in later years took lessons in Gravelbourg. During the summer, Ema worked in her flower and vegetable gardens, and there was always a lot of canning and freezing to be done. She was also an amazing cook. Ema and Owen started in the horse business in 1961, and they produced top quality Quarter horses that were sold all over North America and in Europe. They held many clinics over the years that contributed to renewed interest in horses in the area. In 1978, Ema volunteered as show secretary for the Saskatchewan Cutting Horse Association and held that position for 23 years. Ema and Owen also devoted many years to building a herd of Black Angus cattle, and looked forward to when all the family members would come out for their Thanksgiving cattle drive. In the early 1980s, Ema added a new career to her many duties when she began working for home care. Ema truly loved caring for others, and her kind and gentle manner were well suited to her work. Sadly, the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease started to become evident in 2000, and with each passing month pieces of Ema's beautiful spirit slipped away. Ema was a gentle soul, and although she will be dearly missed, her family feels that she will be shining brightly down on them. Ema is survived by her loving husband Owen Williams; daughter Bev (Cliff) Clampitt; son Tom (Carmen) Williams; grandchildren: Trudy Stewart, Jaime (Ryan) Hayes, Shane Williams, Craig (Julie) Williams, Jared (Shereen) Williams; great grandchildren: Joshua & Cali Stewart, Neyla & Cormick Hayes, Emily, Jacelyn & Ava Williams, Vann, Jett & Luxx Williams, London, Lorelai & Luna Williams. Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 2:00 pm, at the Woodrow Gospel Chapel, Woodrow, SK. Officiant was Pastor Rick Hawreschuk. Reader was Ema’s niece, Phyllis Mierau. The eulogy was shared by granddaughter Trudy Stewart. Family Interment took place at the Woodrow Municipal Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ema to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Ave., Regina, SK S4P 3X1, were greatly appreciated.
