Obituary of Shirley Baran

Shirley Ann Baran of Lafleche, SK, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2016, at the age of 72. Shirley was born at a Maternity Home near Cadillac on August 18, 1944, and was raised in Admiral until the family moved to Meyronne. She attended elementary school there, and graduated high school in Kincaid. In 1963, Shirley moved to Lafleche and began working at the Bank of Toronto as a ledger keeper and then a teller. While living with the Phaneuf family in Lafleche, Shirley met the love of her life, Andy Baran. On August 29, 1966 Shirley and Andy were married in Meyronne. They built a new home in Lafleche where they lived for their entire married life, and where they had many happy family gatherings. Shirley enjoyed travelling and going to Wood Mountain Regional Park for barbeques. She and Andy enjoyed many road trips to the United States. Shirley was a woman who spoke her mind whether you wanted to hear it or not. Shirley always made an effort to be involved in her nieces and nephews lives, and always tried to attend whatever event they had going on. She was a great listener and she was always happy to give an educated opinion on almost anything. Shirley loved to read and keep up to date on current events and would often discuss and critique what was going on in the world. Shirley hosted many holidays, and cooked wonderful holiday meals. Her face would always light up when she saw her family walk through the door. Anyone who knew Shirley knows family and close friends meant everything to her. She suffered from chronic migraines for a good portion of her life and it was tough to see her go through so much pain over the years. Shirley will be missed for her big smile and her kind heart. She was a wonderful sister, wife, aunt, cousin and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Shirley is predeceased by her husband Andrew Baran (2012); parents Henry (1991) and Myrtle (2014) (nee Hegland) Moore; sister Linda Moore (1964); nephew Kevin Moore (1995); father and mother-in-law Andrew Sr. (1971) and Sofia (1996) Baran; brother-in-law Walter Baran (2016). She is survived by her loving family, brother Percy (Bernice) Moore; brother Donald Moore; sister Mavis Moore; nieces and nephews Rose (Bert), Todd (Nancy), Trevor (Lindsay), Aislinn (Michael), Dorian; great nieces and nephews Michael, Avalon, Rebecca, Rachel, Brianna, Travis, Hayden, Ashton and numerous cousins.
