Obituary of Emma Boghean

Emma Lena Boghean was born on December 7, 1933, in Limerick, SK, to John and Caroline Silzer, and was one of eight children. She was raised on the family farm north of town and attended the Limerick School. Emma married Nick Boghean in 1952. They moved to the Boghean homestead eight miles south of Melaval, SK, where they raised their children and farmed for 55 years. Nick and Emma were blessed with four children, Glenn, Brenda, Barry, and Bernel. When Nick’s health began to fail, Nick and Emma moved to Limerick in 2007. Emma kept herself busy with the 49ers Club and the Limerick Service Club, but her heart remained on the farm. She continued to maintain the farmyard, cutting the grass and trimming hedges. In February 2016 Emma moved to the Lafleche and District Health Centre, which she loved and made it her home until her passing. Emma was a wonderful cook, and will be remembered for the many family gatherings and meals she prepared with her loving hands. Emma was not afraid of hard work. She loved working in her yard, mowing lawns, gardening, and taking care of her flower beds. She loved music and dancing, and could often be heard whistling or humming a tune. Emma found beauty in nature, natural landscapes, enjoyed studying and admiring the clouds and skies, and listening to the cheerful songs of the birds. Emma’s incredible faith kept her strong and gave her the courage to face the many struggles and challenges in her life. Emma was referred to by doctors as a "walking miracle.” She often said that laughter is the best medicine, and no matter what her circumstances, Emma always wore a smile. This was the way she saw life, as an interesting series of possibilities, opportunities, challenges, and victories. On December 28, 2016, Emma departed this life to live with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, fulfilled and at peace. Emma is survived by her loving family, daughter Brenda (Dan) Redmond, granddaughter Sarah (Titus) Kropf, great granddaughter Harley Rae; son Barry (Sue) Boghean, grandsons Morgan Boghean, Ben Boghean; son Bernel (Voke) Boghean, granddaughter Kamsi Boghean, grandsons Chika Boghean, Ossy Boghean, Brody Boghean; sister Anne Rogers; brother Reynold (Beth) Silzer; sister-in-law Marcella Silzer; brother-in-law Dennis Averill; numerous nieces and nephews.
