Obituary of Aurore Lariviere

Mari Anne Aurore Ema (nee Bouvier) Lariviere of Gravelbourg, SK passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the age of 89 years. Aurore was born on the family farm at Meyronne on October 22, 1927. She was the fourth of six children born to Arsène and Anna (nee Lacroix) Bouvier. She began her education at Kramer school, traveling two and a half miles by horse and buggy or caboose in the winter, and attended the Lafleche convent for high school. In 1948, Aurore met Wilfred Lariviere and they were married on July 12, 1950. They made their home in Gravelbourg and were blessed with four children, Pierre, Diane, Roland, and Lise. Aurore worked as a cook at St. Joseph Hospital, the Chez Rene, and the College Mathieu, where she worked for ten years, studied and obtained her Journeyman Chef status and became the head chef. Aurore had a special bond with her children and grandchildren, and she will be dearly missed. Aurore is survived by her loving family, daughter Diane (Roland) Boire, son Roland Lariviere, daughter Lise (Dale) Berger, brother Laurent (Marguerite) Bouvier. Grandchildren Daniel, Michael (Katie), Mathieu, François (Marcia Mitschke), Dylan, Cale (Tara), Tory (Mike), and Calvin (Danielle). Three great grandchildren, Colton, Connor and Laeykyn plus numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Wilfred Lariviere (1989); son Pierre (2004); parents Arsène and Anna (nee Lacroix) Bouvier; brothers Leo (Germaine) Bouvier, Rene (Laurette) Bouvier, Gérard (Lucille) Bouvier; sister Alice (Louis) Samoisette. Aurore believed that family was very important, and had a deep faith in the Blessed Virgin Mary. In her retirement she could be found in her garden growing more fruits and vegetables than she needed, which she shared with those she loved. She especially loved picking saskatoons from her trees. Aurore loved to cook, do handwork, and sew. Aurore was an avid card player and loved to play crib. Her beautiful smile will long be remembered. Family service will take place in May 2017. Memorial donations in memory of Aurore may be made to the Foyer d'Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0.
